House rules
The host doesn’t allow pets, parties, or smoking.
Finca La Luna is our home in Costa Rica, a fully furnished main house over 1500 sq ft of living space and an outdoor, covered BBQ area over 500 sq ft. It is located in a lovingly maintained one-acre lot, which it shares with our guest house.

Our WiFi is enterprise-grade: a Multi-WAN router with a 100Mbps fiber optics main connection and a wireless point to point 10Mbps backup connection. Our internet infrastructure has a battery backup, so short power outages will NOT bring the internet down.

The space
We furnished the entire place at once, which allowed us to keep a design theme throughout the entire house that is beautiful, practical, and comfortable.

The main room features a down duvet cover and 100% cotton bedding on a king-size bed which can be bathed with lots and lots of light or kept as dark as a cave, your choice, our large windows with blackout curtains will let you make the choice. You'll be able to cook almost anything you want in our fully equipped kitchen and if that stake is to large, worry not, you can cook it at the bbq grill in the ranch. Later, after a shower, you can relax in the sauna, enjoy the views from the balcony, nap on the grass or read a book at the pergola. You can visit one of the restaurants in the area, or go check out one of the many tourist destinations around and in the central valley.

Or you can get out on the street and go for a hike, just watch out for the mountain bikers!

Guest access
Finca La Luna will be all yours except for the guest house, the storage room, and the guest house parking space.

Other things to note
It is important to note that Finca La Luna is not an event venue. Finca La Luna is meant for relaxing, so no loud parties are allowed and failure to fulfill this requirement will result in an immediate termination of the rental agreement. Nobody wants this to happen so if what you’re looking for is a party venue, this is not your place, sorry!

Smoking is not allowed in indoor areas, however, it is allowed on balconies and outdoor areas.

Please turn off and properly dispose of cigarette butts.

You will be near Cerro Dantas Wildlife Refuge, so there’s is a possibility to encounter fauna. Please exercise caution.

There is no private security on premises, so you should expect the level of security of an average house in this area.

Local police does have multiple cameras on the one street leading to Finca La Luna, so the safety of the area is higher than average, nevertheless, you should always exercise caution.

Please review AirBnB’s website to find out about the insurance coverage available for the duration of your stay at Finca La Luna. Please note protection ends with the reservation, so it is important that you leave the premises before your reservation ends.

Location

concepcion San rafael, Heredia, Costa Rica

Because of our location near a Wildlife refuge and the impact certain types of development would have on nearby ecosystems, our neighborhood's plot size, number of constructions per plot, and construction size to plot size proportion, are all heavily regulated. This results in a neighborhood with very large lots and constructions that are very private and far apart from each other. The combination of the above with the proximity to the central valley, as well as the connectivity have turned the area into an exclusive area that is sought after to build country houses and villas like Finca La Luna. There's a ton of hiking nearby, just walking distance but do make sure to bring your GPS, as it is easy to get lost in the mountains nearby. Walking outside of the property you'll see people exercising, looking for that clean air you came to enjoy and to get away from the city.

I'm Costa Rican born, raised, and proud of it. I am a computer scientist working for a test equipment manufacturer located in Santa Rosa, California, but working remotely out of Oakland, CA. I am married to Yin, with whom I travel most of the time. My wife is a business woman focused on enterprise software's global strategy. She is a languages junkie(English, German, Mandarin Chinese, Spanish and rusty French) and a second dan TKD black belt. We had our daughter Luna a couple of years ago, and she has been filling our lives with laughter and made us sleep less than we would like for a little bit. A few years ago, we became AirBnB hosts, when La Posada del Barbero was born. Check it out, we would love to host you: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/37182459 Later , during our pandemic escape to Costa Rica, Finca La Luna came to life: https://airbnb.com/h/fincalaluna We are NO party animals and appreciate peace and quiet, we don't smoke, like to travel light, and are low maintenance.

During your stay
We live in the United States and will be fairly available online, however we do have full-time jobs. Jose and Estefani rent our guest house and are lovely people, so you will be seeing them around. I'm sure they'll be helpful but they don't work for Finca La Luna, they are guests like you!

My brother lives about half an hour away, so he will be the one to come on site if you needed help with something.
