Experience a taste of Eastern Victoria’s history at The Old Maffra Bakery. 'Maison Maffra' is a tastefully renovated Victorian conversion perfect for a romantic getaway in beautiful central Gippsland.

A truly unique and stylish property located in the heart of a tiny town, designed to deliver comfort with a touch of luxury. Surrounded by stunning bush and picturesque farmland, it's a short drive to some of the region’s greatest offerings.

The space

• Close to everything in town
• Large Private Courtyard
• Wheelchair Accessible
• Kitchenette w/ essentials
• Open Fireplace
• Pet Friendly
• Weber BBQ

Right in the heart of Maffra on Johnson St (the main strip), our prime location makes a perfect base for a moments' walk to everything in town, including our great pubs, cafés and shops.

You'll be staying in the Old Bakery shop front section of the house, all located conveniently on the ground floor.

For more information on the Central Gippsland region visit the Visit Gippsland, Gippslandia or Tourism Wellington websites.

Snuggle up with a book by the fire in the romantic sitting room. This old parlour features an open working fireplace for those cooler Gippsland evenings, 100s of rare and unique books to read, and a gallery wall full of rotating old and new art on freshly painted walls.

The light and airy open plan dining and entertainment area features a brand new queen size bed, lounge and dining area.

WIFI is included and our large Smart TV features Netflix, Stan as well as a PS4 with plenty of games.

The picturesque, green-filled courtyard is huge! Enjoy a wine and BBQ at dusk by the pond or coffee in the morning on the patio. The courtyard is yours to use, however it's technically a shared space as that's how we exit/enter the property. We want you to enjoy as much privacy as you need, so we will absolutely do our best to avoid the area.

Smoking is permitted in the courtyard but not in the building. An ashtray can be supplied on request.

The kitchenette includes a mini-fridge, sink, toaster, kettle, French press and all the tableware essentials. An electric cooking pan and microwave can be found in the pantry/storage cupboard.

Our decadent, ample-sized bathroom includes a walk-in shower, heated floor and towel rack, vanity, and plenty of towels and bath consumables. It’s also fully wheelchair accessible.

We are happy to accommodate pets in the building (upon approval) who are also welcome to enjoy the fully secure courtyard, however we do request an extra pet cleaning fee of $20.

After its time as a bakery, the Victorian terrace served as an antique store, and now is the home of a local artist and designer, Kate Fox. This space has been painstakingly decorated by Kate to reflect the many lives of the building in her own eclectic style.

We respectfully acknowledge the Gunaikurnai people and their Elders past, present and emerging, who are the Traditional Owners of the land on which we live and work.

We also acknowledge the Traditional Owners of lands across Australia, their Elders, Ancestors, cultures and heritage.

Where you’ll be

Maffra, Victoria, Australia

Taken from the Visit Gippsland website:

Just north of Sale, Maffra offers a warm village feel and base to explore the gorgeous surrounds. Idyllic countryside stretches effortlessly as far as the eye can see, and whispers of high country adventure are carried on the wind.

Take a soulful wander past the town’s cafes, gift and boutique clothing stores, lavished with the kind of heritage shop-fronts that never go out of vogue.

The town’s history is tied to the sugar beet industry of the early 1900s, and you can step inside the Sugar Beet Museum, in the former beet processing plant.

The Gippsland Vehicle Collection is housed inside the old sugar store. Featuring an ever-changing display of interesting and vintage cars and memorabilia, this quirky museum is on the map for auto enthusiasts and car clubs.

There's also a rare mineral and gem display when you pop into the Visitor Information Centre.

Get your next art fix from the Maffra Exhibition Space, supporting local Gippsland artists and a host of exhibitions. Down the road, the artist-run Briagolong Art Gallery showcases contemporary works.

Take a picnic or enjoy a barbecue at the Macalister River Park with playground and walking tracks around the serene river.

Café L’Attitude offers up decadent muffins and friendly service, or try Coffee House 138’s delicious breakfasts, and The Food Store’s gourmet wood fired pizzas. Then head to the Maffra Community Sports Club for a cool drink and a top-notch pub meal. Chilli Dream offer a great Vietnamese option in town to enjoy something a bit spicier if that’s where your tastes take you.

Grab your fermented goods, health and wholefoods from The Pickle Pot when you pop in for a healthy lunch or snack on the go.

Along the Central Gippsland Wine Trail and set amongst rolling pastures of the Avon River Valley, Avon Ridge Vineyard offers a superb vista to enjoy the quality wines. Feeling indecisive? That’s ok, because you can try red, white, sparkling or even cider. The restaurant produces an innovative menu from locally sourced ingredients making for a delicious breakfast or lunch.
