Villa I Tre Archi is an old Tuscan farmhouse built in the late 19th century, tastefully renovated and harmoniously inserted in the splendid green Tuscan hills of the upper Val di Cecina, in the Comune of Pomarance, a borderland between Pisa and Siena; majestic but simple, it is built in local stone and conveys a sense of well-being at first sight.

The space
Podere I Gessi, as it was called until the 90s, with the name deriving from an old alabaster quarry within the estate, was where wheat, olive trees, vineyards and vegetables were cultivated and where cattle and pigs were raised in a semi-wild state. In 2003 the renovation works began with the aim of giving personality to the building, while preserving the architectural characteristics and enhancing the use of original materials to maintain the warmth and authenticity typical of Tuscan farmhouses, such as the exposed-stone cladding and the contour of the roof. The farmhouse is located in an oasis of tranquility, in a privileged position due to its exposure to the 4 winds; green hills, daisies and violets that colour the fields and a profound silence. The interior, too, maintains the rustic mix that characterises the exterior, the wooden beams and the stone walls creating an environment of great comfort and harmony. Its peculiarity is inherent in the brilliance of the environment: the arched windows, in fact, occupy the walls entirely and offer a breathtaking view over the surrounding hills. The swimming pool embellishes this place surrounded by a thousand shades of green, guaranteeing unforgettable days of pure relaxation. Next to the villa there is the owners’ house who, although live there daily, carefully guarantee the maximum privacy and non-intrusiveness to their precious guests, actually with their presence the holiday could be enriched with the added value of being pampered, upon request, by their assistance about places to visit or being always up to date about all events and initiatives in the area. They could recommend bike trails, horse riding, where to rent e-bikes; guide you towards the most beautiful beaches of the coast, art cities; advise where to taste traditional food and wine or, if you wish, they could organize a dinner or a lunch directly in-villa by their chef. An additional important aspect is also the possibility to buy oil, wine, jams and other genuine products directly from the farm owned by their family

Where you’ll be

Pomarance, Toscana, Italy

Just over 2 km away is the old medieval borgo of Pomarance, dating back to the year 1000, which was one of the most important castles in the area as can still be seen today from the remains of its walls and gates. An interesting visit would be to the historic centre of Pomarance with the 12th century Romanesque church, containing works by local painters including Cristofano Roncalli (known as Il Pomarancio), the Piazza della Pretura and the beautiful 19th century palaces of Via Roncalli, including the Casa Museo Palazzo Bicocchi. In the territory are numerous medieval borghi, churches, castles and the remains of old thermal and mining settlements. Dominating all is the imposing fortress of the Rocca Sillana (11th - 16th century), restored and visitable, one of the most significant examples of military architecture. Pomarance is also the gateway to the largest geothermal area in continental Europe, still today called the "Devil's Valley". It is the ideal place from which to visit the Museum of Geothermal Energy of Larderello, a unique route which leads us from the Etruscan and medieval periods to today's challenge of alternative energies.
