An etched-glass sleep-and-chill pod in an amazing loft apartment in Harlesden, NW London, close to Willesden Junction Station. This is the light-filled,creative space of an artistic polymath and a very stimulating environment for discerning visitors. It also boasts super-fast fibre-optic Wifi. Sadly, JJ the ginger tom cat (see photo) passed away in January 2017, aged 19.

The space

This is the fabulously funky, stylish, relaxed and creative space of a cool, gay artistic polymath in his early 60s who's had an amazing life. A huge space with three sofas for chilling and a large dining table with your host's artworks on the walls. There's also a small dining table in the guest pod for intimate, romantic meals.

Guest access

A wonderfully quirky-yet-cosy, etched-glass sleep-and-chill pod (OK, cool double room), Wifi (super-fast fibre-optic), Shared TV, kitchen, washing machine, fridge, freezer and bathroom. There's also a small fridge and strong box available exclusively for guests.

Interaction with guests

I'm very sociable and happy to cook a two-course (starter and main) dinner for my Airbnb guests for a fixed rate of £10 per person. Bring your own wine!
If that should run out, there's a huge international supermarket open 24/7 around the corner. However, if I'm busy and have some sort of deadline, I'll have to get on with my work in my studio/office in the main living space. Dinner is generally my social time. I don't do breakfast or early mornings. Obviously, I supply a set of keys (2 if necessary) for guests.

Other things to note

I've lived in London since 1973 and know everything there is to know and where to go. I'll give you advice on everything if this is your first visit to this wonderful city - or if you need an update, having been before. Notting Hill, Portobello Road Market, Wembley Stadium, Camden Market, Hampstead, Wimbledon, The West End, Kew Gardens and Richmond are all within easy reach - around 30 minutes from Willesden Junction Station.

I work at home so I really don't like my concentration to be compromised during the day or early evening. I respectfully ask guests to use headphones if they're listening to music or watching TV/stuff on laptop whilst I'm working. I'm very clean and tidy and ask my guests to be similarly inclined. However, having said that, after dinner is generally time to communally chill and chat with a glass or three of wine. Smoking is only permitted in my jungly outside space - which has two seats and a table - and a 'light seat' (a light that you can sit on!). No pets allowed.

You must also acknowledge
No parking on property - I don't have an allocated parking space in this gated development, but there is occasionally a space available. Otherwise, it's find a metred space!

Steve was really friendly and chatty. The room was nice with lots of space in a cool flat. As the rooms in the middle of the flat it's not fully soundproof but it was quiet when we were there

This is good place for living, Steve is a really nice person that always help us a lot, and he also share his music with us, which is a good way to communicate with him, his music is really good that he has his own studio at home, which is really cool that I wish I could get my own music studio also.

This place is absolutely stunning, and Steve is an exemplary host in every conceivable regard. Warm, engaging, efficient, and helpful. I genuinely enjoyed every moment I spent in that space. I would absolutely stay here again if I find myself able to.

You're both most welcome! Thanks for the lovely feedback! I can't seem to find any pics of you, perhaps they didn't come out? I'll double check anyway. Bests. Steve X

A fabulous & cosy place to stay with stunning art, photography & decor. The home was a bit intimate, which can be lovely but nuance for light and late sleepers as sounds & voices can be easily heard. The host was gracious, helpful and friendly without being imposing and went out of his way to make our stay comfortable.

Steve is an awesome person, I instantly felt how welcoming he was since the first message I received after he accepted our booking. His house is amazing and quite interesting, although we had other plans and we just spent one night at his house it was like he knew us from before, that's how welcoming he was. And he even helped after we left his house with our future endeavours. He is an amazing person and I highly recommend staying at his house! :) You will definitely enjoy it!

It was our first time, my brother and I, to visit the UK so choosing to stay in Airbnb host is the best way to break from the traditional and get in touch with an authentic local feel which Steve and William - wonderful hosts and extremely helpful with a brilliant map skills even better than citymapper, has succeeded beyond (all) my expectations. Also, Steve is a fantastic cook and a great artist. It's in a lovely quiet neighbourhood located in the convenient location with very nice neighbours, and one of them, Mike, tried his best to teach me how to dance. So I really appreciate and enjoyed my stay at Steve’s place, not only because of their amazing hospitality but also a friendly atmosphere. Definitely will revisit again!
