What can I say…One of the best preserved Roman Cities on the Earth! AMAZING…just go and have a look.
Selcuk is the town nearest to the site. There is also St John’s Bacsillica and The Mosque which are both worth a wander around.
Stay at Homeros Pension…..they are lovely and it’s inexpensive and clean!
I’ve been to one called Apollo which is down near the sea front. Just ask anyone and they will point you in the right direction!
Temple of Apollo…..amazing. 30 min walk or 5 mins in Dolmus
Market on Saturday
You can buy a lot of your food here especially fruit veg, cheese, olives etc. Also has household, clothes (Fake bags, t-shirts shoes, glasses, watches and galore)….worth going. It’s on all day and just follow everyone that has a bag or trolley…they are all going in the same direction!
This is a lovely little place about 30mins drive from Didim following signs to Soke/Izmir. When you come to the village of Akkoy, turn left..there is a sign now…there didn’t used to be, so its getting more popular but still a bit of a secret. On your way you will see signs for Miletos and Priene both ruins sites and worth a look (info from guide book below)… The sign for Donganbey is between the two. Turn off left and then veer left. Keep going until you reach the end of the road…it will go on and on and get narrower and narrower until you reach the sea…AMAZING fish restaurant at the end and lovely beach to chill on…
This is an all day trip and it stops off at 5 beaches and included lunch for 25lira (£10)…not bad. It goes from the Harbour area.
There is a large water Park about 3 miles outside of Didim. You can get the local bus there. (URL HIDDEN)
