The space

Beautiful house in the heart of the “Perigord noir” in Dordogne, dominating Saint Avit de Vialard, a tiny village just 4 kilometers far from Le Bugue (nearest train station, market and supermarket). The area is very peaceful, surrounded by fields and woods (over 22 acres in total). And the village counts only 118 inhabitants, insuring an authentic environment.

The rental includes the whole house. It has 3 rooms (Website hidden by Airbnb) the first with a double 140x200 cm bed, a single 80x200 cm bed, and a cupboard;

- the second has a double 140x200 cm bed, a cupboard, and opens up onto the terrace;

- the third has a double 140x200 cm bed, a dresser, a private bathroom, and it also opens up onto the terrace.

The house is also equipped with another bathroom that includes a bath, a washing machine and a toilet, and there is a separate toilet as well.
The kitchen is equipped with an oven, a stove, a microwave oven and a dishwasher.
The living room includes a large extendable table, a stereo, and a large fireplace.

It is possible to eat outside under a shelter when on the covered terrace. But garden furniture can also be displayed outside. A barbecue is available for use.

-Dogs and cats accepted.
- No smoking allowed inside the house.

The Lac Noir farm is just 500 feet walking distance. The farmer organizes visits of the farm every evening at 7 pm, and you can buy his products there directly (foie gras, duck breasts, stuffed neck, duck confit, etc.).

There is a bathing spot just 15 minutes away by car, at Limeuil (at the confluence of the Dordogne and the Vézère). There are also many departure times for several canoeing or kayaking routes (from one hour to 5 days).

The area counts many caves including Bara Bahau (5 km), Proumeyssac (7 km), as well as the famous Lascaux, Font-De-Gaume, Combarelles, Abri, etc.

Many surrounding villages are listed as UNESCO world heritage.

We stayed here in June 2013 and had a very enjoyable visit. The farmhouse is large but slightly dark inside and the kitchen fairly rudimentary, but it is in a beautiful setting and we had not real problems. The weather was unseasonably cool while we were there which did not hel…

The house had been well prepared for us by Armelle and her husband Patrick came over following our arrival to check that all was OK and gave us a good insight into the area. Although we were then left to our own devices, we were given plenty of phone numbers both by Patrick and …

A friend met us in town and showed us the way to the home which was really nice. He made sure we were settled in the house and told us a lot about the area. The setting in the countryside was lovely.

The caretaker Monique was very nice, friendly, and responsive to our requests. The house was as advertised except that it was very damp and musty and in need of a dehumidifier or good airing. We understand that this is likely a characteristic of such old houses but future gues…
