All welcome to our "Superhost Home!"
Your bathroom immediately adjoins your cozy room. You have a queen bed, desk/chair, soft recliner, and a large mirrored closet with plenty of space for luggage.
Breakfast with us, enjoy our living room and all the common areas, inside and out. We are not ADA: but have a good ramp into the home.
* Peaceful neighborhood has free, on-street parking.
* Short walks to Duke East, parks, restaurants and funky shops, as well as Whole Foods.
We welcome you.

The space
We welcome you to share our home: We've a big, welcoming living room, a big yard, and wonderful neighbors, including friends who stop by (others who enter have their own code and you are safe).
Yours room faces the sunset. It's a cozy room, with a queen-sized bed, a desk with a chair, an extra, soft chair, storage in a large mirrored closet, your bathroom is immediately outside your bedroom door. This bathroom will be used by friends who stop by, but I will see to cleaning it after visitor use.
Our home is warm and welcoming because that's how we want the world to be.
Whether you are coming to celebrate an event at one of the local colleges, or for any other reason; maybe you just want to check out Durham, we will happily support your choice to stay at our home (including using our kitchen and living room) or to wander 'round town.
The bedroom available has a queen size bed, so it's most suitable for an individual.
You'll be welcome to use the kitchen/dining and living room, with a bit of fridge/cupboard space for foods/medicines, if that helps. You are also walking distance to some of Durham's most awesome restaurants.
For whatever reason Durham draws you, just come and be!

Guest access
1. The wheelchair access ramp works for suitcases as well as wheelchairs!
2. In nice weather you may want to relax on the little front porch, or use the back deck, in our large, private back yard, where our sweet dog Maude hangs out.
3. If the weather is really nice, you may also tent camp in the back yard for $25 per night, which allows access the bathroom/kitchen etc. Just let me know.

Note on Pets: We have a fully fenced back-yard. Our well-trained dog lives with us. Maude is the fastest, sweetest dog on the planet and is mostly outside if the weather is nice. When inside, she is trained to go directly to her pad.

Other things to note

We live in a wonderfully diverse neighborhood. Everyone has been exceedingly kind and welcoming to us and our extended family. I feel safe walking out late at night alone, am happy to stop and chat with neighbors, and feel free inviting neighbors into our home, including those needing a ramp to enter our one level home.
One of our favorite things is to walk around the Duke "Wall," which we can actually see from our sidewalk. You can easily walk to restaurants and shops as well.

You can do so much near our home! If you use a car there's plenty of on-street parking.

We love hosting people from all backgrounds and have ramps into our home as an extra welcome. With Covid, we are taking extra precautions in cleaning, and spacing out guest bookings so you are safe. We are pretty easy. We are just trying to make the world a bit sweeter. Hosting seems the natural thing to do as we feel it is unfair to have an empty home. At this point in life, I'm working, from here and United States, on helping to organize and build a war orphans’ boarding school, where I volunteered as an English teacher in the war-torn African country of South Sudan. Most of my days, for now, are focused on caring for my kind husband Sebastian, and studying trauma and resilience at the University of North Carolina… Online. Still, I find joy. Hmmmm, a life motto? Maybe one would be “Love your enemies, it really gets them confused."
