Hi I'm Julie, I live in the village of Longford and my husband and I have recently restored the 1835 old Stable into unique accomodation. The building was derelict when we first found it. The ceiling beams in the Stable were fixed by the mortise and tenon joints and the whole structure of the roof sat on the convict brick walls with nothing anchoring it down, just sitting on top for all those years. Amazingly the old stable has sat on foundations of simple bluestone with lime mortar for 160 years. It has been such fun restoring it and a joy working with and recycling the old original timbers, turning them into something special. My love of gardening keeps me busy and I am a member of our local Garden Club. Many plants and cuttings were given to me from dear friends, neighbours and people whose gardens I have visited. This is such a lovely part of gardening and it’s where many friendships have been made over many years. We both enjoy listening to music, the outdoors, camping and travelling when we are able to.
