Calm and convenient location

Guests say this area is peaceful and it’s easy to get around.
Stone Flower is a 1830s barn that has been transformed into a unique, comfortable and luxurious one bed accommodation. Fully equipped, self contained and private, it is centrally located within minutes of all the best that Hobart has to offer. The city is a short 15 minute walk away & Salamanca Place, 25 minutes. A short Taxi or Uber ride to the waterfront or North Hobart costs around $8-10.

The space
Stone Flower is a beautiful, light-filled, multi-level dwelling which flawlessly harmonizes the richness of its historical past with comforts of modern day life. This unique property has been creatively transformed and provides privacy and comfort. Please enjoy it!

The upstairs space, is bathed in natural light and sits under a soaring cathedral ceiling. From the stunning bedroom with its deliciously comfortable queen-size bed you step up into the open plan bathroom featuring a large wet area shower, mirrored cupboards, and gorgeous vanity all enveloped in the warmth of timber and stone. The old barn's original ladder now serves as a unique towel rack! Guest amenities are provided.

Downstairs, there is an open plan living area perfect for relaxing with a good book or for watching a movie on Netflix, Stan, or free to air TV. And the best of Australian contemporary furniture is yours to enjoy. Step down into the fully equipped, gourmet kitchen and cook up a storm. Culinary delights are available from several conveniently located grocers including the much loved Hill St Grocer, Salamanca Fresh, Wursthaus Kitchen, Salamanca Market (on Saturday), Farmgate Market (8:30-1:00pm Sundays), as well as the normal supermarkets. The custom built dining table has been recycled from beams left over from the renovation and seats four people.

There is under floor heating both upstairs and downstairs and a panel heater in the bedroom. There is also a small private outdoor area for guest to enjoy and parking for one car.

Stone Flower is the winner of several architectural and building awards including:

- 2010 National Award for Small Project Architecture
- The Roy Sharington Smith Award for Heritage Architecture
- Tasmanian Architecture Award for Small Project Architecture
- 2011 Winner Renovation (HIA-CSR)
- Vic/Tas Timber Design Award for Best Renovation

Guest access

There is an easy to use Miele washer/ dryer laundry. Instructions are in the Compendium.

Parking is available for one car. However, the driveway is narrow. It's easier to park in the street.

Other things to note
Stone Flower is located on a steep hill very close to the centre of town. Walking down is easy, walking up....well, you'll want to be fit! There is off street parking for one car but the driveway is narrow, so be careful. If you have a large vehicle, please park in the street.
Check in time is 2:00 pm and check out time is 10:00am. There can be some flexibility with this, so please let me know what your plans are.

The open plan bathroom area in the upstairs area is...open plan. It was designed this way for architectural flow so as to not ruin the pitched roof line and openness of the upstairs. There is no door in the toilet area although it is in its own space.

At the end of the stay, guests are NOT required to wash the linen. Our cleaning service with take care of that.
