Extra spacious

Guests love this home’s spaciousness for a comfortable stay.
In the land of Oz, there is no place like DOME, an amazing timber geodesic dome, a mathematical masterpiece of engineering inspired by Buckminster Fuller. Surrounded by trees you are staying in a eco treehouse.
The house offers a memorable experience for a unique family holiday With 4 individually designed bedrooms with ensuites & 1 without, it sleeps 8-12 and is pet friendly.
We only accept bookings from family groups for family holidays. Please note, we definitely do not host parties :0)

The space
The house is a timber geodesic dome, designed for the Sunshine Coast’s beautiful sub-tropical climate and opens out into its tropical garden setting. The design is an expression of Buckminster Fuller’s dymaxion, eco conscious house, which uses the ‘dome effect’ to circulate air. The 6m high dome forms a family hub with 5 private bedrooms arranged around the edge.
Surrounded by trees you feel you are staying in a eco treehouse away in the forest but are in a quiet residential neighbourhood close to the beach, shops, Mt. Coolum National Park, attractions, highways and the airport. The Dome House is a perfect central base to explore Noosa, Maleny, Coolum Beach & Maroochydore.

Guest access
Welcome to your 'DOME from HOME'. Booking the whole house you have sole, private use of the whole house and grounds.
Including 3 lounge areas, 2 dining areas, fully equiped kitchen/bar area, office, powder room and utility as well as the 5 bedrooms, linen and towels provided. Outside areas include fenced pool & BBQ areas, garden, laundry drying area & space to park 4 cars.
If bringing your pets, they are welcome in The Dome House as if it is your own home. We just ask that you keep your dog on the leash when outside the house as the property is not fully fenced.

Other things to note
The Dome House is not a party venue it is in a quiet suburban neighbourhood of Coolum Beach. It is on the edge of the National Park and is surrounded by trees and wildlife.
It is for this reason we insist guest are respectful of our neighbours and the peaceful nature of The Dome House and its environment.
As an environmentally friendly designed house it is partially off grid. It has solar power & hot water, we use the rain water as well as town water and recycle all we can, among other environmental features. It is for this reason we insist that there be a maximum of 12 guests on the premises at all times to allow these systems to work.

Neighbourhood highlights

The Dome House is a short walk to Mt.Coolum national park entry & 4 mins drive to the quiet Yaroomba patrolled beach, Point Arkwright whale watching, sea fishing & surf spots as well as two world-class golf courses. Convenient local shops, medical centre & restaurants are near by. The hustle & bustle of Coolum Beach is only 8 mins drive north & Noosa 35 mins away.Although the geology of Mount Coolum is in itself quite spectacular, some of its most important aspects are not so immediately obvious. Ecologically, Mount Coolum is one of the most important square kilometres in Australia. The diversity of plant life within such a confined area is unequalled. The site has been intensely studied and over 700 plant types are now documented. This includes 590 flowering plants, 49 ferns and over 100 species of the lesser plants such as mosses, liverworts, lichens etc. By way of comparison, there are only 1400 species in all of Great Britain. Deserving particular note is the fact that the 49 ferns belong to 20 distinct families, some 40% of all fern families living on earth today. Psilotum Nudum, evolutionary the world's most primitive plant, is common. Two recently discovered species of trees are found nowhere else, and the area in general is unique in that numerous species find the limit of their distribution, be it in northern or southern, on Mount Coolum.
