Kingston - The Kingston Boathouse Accommodation : The photos provided on Air BNB, don't do this place justice honestly. Even though the photos are nice, when you actually step into this place, you feel like you're home! It's THAT cozy. The house has three levels. Ground floor: There is a very comfortable seating area with deep couches and loads of pillows and blankets. There is a very comfortable four-seater dining table and an exceptionally stocked kitchen. (Patrick our host is a chef!) There is also a lovely working fireplace. The second floor: Is a very cosy "den" with a nice work table to put your laptop etc and has a lovely swing. Lots of books etc. The third floor: has a very very comfortable queen sized bed with lots of comfortable pillows and extra blankets. Utilities: Kitchen: The kitchen is small but super functional. There were lots of pots, a pan, toaster, kettle, cooking hobs, oven, loads of coffee options (Patrick is a coffee affectionado and even hosts "coffee experiences" through @airbnb) There's crockery and cutlery and if you need something (anything really); the hosts live next door and happily provide you with it. The coolest part is that they have a vegetable/herb garden and encourage you to use fresh produce if you're cooking! Bathroom: This was the ONLY minus point for us. Since it is essentially an open floor plan, there is no door to the bathroom, affording you no privacy as noise travels fast and loud in the house. It has amazing acousticsWe did mention this to both Patrick and Emma Kate and they explained why.... it to do with the way the roof is angled. Putting a door wasn't possible. The major plus point: The house is literally almost touching the water and the view from the house is just tremendous! Wifi: Very good speed as we could seemlessly stream Netflix. The hosts: The hosts Patrick and Emma Kate are super friendly and very kind. So much so, that we invited them over for dinner one night and whilst we organised appetisers and dinner, they insisted on bringing drinks and dessert. We had a wonderful evening and I can not recommend this place enough!! It's magical! They are both very approachable and yet allow you loads of privacy. We loved our stay so much that we extended our stay by one more day, just to enjoy the house and it's surroundings. I would highly recommend using their facility as it has pretty much everything you need, it is close to all attractions ; still affording you loads of privacy and I would highly recommend this place to a couple. It's a very romantic setting!

Spectacular lofted apartment, with beautiful views and gorgeous interior design. Patrick and Emma-Kate are just wonderful hosts, sharing their veggie garden and tips in the area with us. Excellent communication as we neared Kingston, brand new amenities in the apartment (special shout out to the coffee maker!)...modern but not overdone. Highly recommend for those looking to skip the hustle of Queenstown.

Thank you so much for letting us stay at your amazing home. You can see how much love and hard work has been put into the home and we enjoyed every minute of our stay. Great location and great accommodation! Patrick was so helpful and nothing was too much for him. He showed us around the veggie garden and arranged for the bikes to be left out for us! Thank you for everything

Patrick and Emma-Kate's Boat House is as beautiful as the pictures look. The area is peaceful and it only took us about 30 minutes to drive to Queenstown. Patrick and Emma-Kate are friendly and welcoming. They gave us access to their very well-stocked garden and we got to have freshly picked salads for dinner. Their kitchen is well-stocked if you like to cook yourself. Patrick even surprised us with some of his super tasty creations! We had a wonderful time at the Boat House and wish we could've stayed longer to explore Kingston, there's a 1.5 hour return hike you can do near the lake, you can go fishing, bike-riding or even just take a walk at the lake. Very good value for what you get and we would've loved to stay longer.

Well located between Invercargill, Dunedin and Te Anau and not too far from Queenstown. Its an ideal place to be- if your looking to explore the South in detail. The accommodation is probably the best Airbnb in all of NZ and to add to that great guidance from the hosts uplifts the entire trip. If available in your dates do yourself a favor and book this.

My Wife and I stayed with Patrick and Emma-Kate for a week and had an amazing trip. Patrick and Emma-Kate were amazing hosts with tons of knowledge on the area and offering great tips for hikes, fishing, biking, groceries and more. The house is comfortable with an incredible view and the artwork inside is incredible. We highly recommend staying with them if you want a relaxing vacation near Queenstown!

Patrick & Emma-Kate User ProfilePatrick & Emma-Kate is a superhost.

We are both creative types. Patrick is a chef, writer, photographer and has recently finished his cookbook (The Kitchen Sink) which was produced at The Boathouse. Emma-Kate is an illustrator, maker, designer and a poet. We both love the dramatic scenery and weather around the Queenstown Lakes and have been to over 30 countries around the world enjoying other cultures, their food and spaces.

We both enjoy proper hospitality. The kind where you get to prepare a space, or a meal that adds wonder to the moment - whether that's when guests first enter our home (The Boathouse), or finish their traveling day on the large bed with NZ wool underneath and feathers on top, with a home made quilt finishing the experience. The little touches inside all matched with fabulous environments outside (the dramatic lake, gorgeous mountains) make our 'job' of hosting a beautiful thing.
