Wildwood is a special rainforest eco retreat in the heart of Cape Tribulation set on a rare exotic fruit orchard which guests are free to explore. It has a large 3 bed house, 2 rainforest cabins, over 800 trees & 7 acres of World Heritage rainforest. Wildwood is in an amazing location just 10 mins walk from Cape Trib beach, amenities, pubs and restaurants. The house is very well catered for families with plenty of toys and games for the under 10s.
Wildwood is set in the heart of Cape Tribulation in the Daintree rainforest on a beautiful rare exotic fruit orchard with over 800 fruit trees.
It has a choice of self catering accommodation to suit 2 -12 people (2 cabins and the main house) and is ideal for families, honeymooners, groups of friends and couples of all ages to walk, explore the rainforest and nearby beaches and relax in hammocks surrounded by the sounds and abundant wildlife of the rainforest.
The grounds at Wildwood include 7 acres of privately owned Wet Tropics World Heritage rainforest with a private walking track. Wildwood is just 10 mins walk to Cape Tribulation beach, pub, restaurants, shops and kayaking, snorkelling and jungle surfing tours.
The house is set on an exotic fruit orchard and guests are welcome to pick their own fruit as they wish from the 800+ trees on the property. They include mangosteens, soursop, jack fruit, marang, rambutan, miracle fruit, carambola, jaboticaba, pineapple, ladies finger bananas and many many more. Wildwood also has 3 creeks which run seasonally with the rains and provide beautiful swimming holes after heavy rains.
The main house has been newly refurbished and has a master bedroom with king size bed and ensuite bathroom, a study (which has a sofa bed and works as a second, open plan bedroom) a large modern kitchen, lounge with fireplace, HDTV and music centre, and two huge verandahs with balinese daybeds, hammocks and handmade wooden furniture. There is also a large gazebo with a bbq and beautiful handmade dining table which adjoins the house.
When four or more guests stay, the house also includes an adjoining garden apartment which has a king size bed (or two king singles) with ensuite bathroom and large verandah overlooking the orchard.
Wildwood has quite an extensive library of DVDs and books for guests enjoyment, as well as a few card and board games. There are also pushbikes and fishing equipment for guests to use.
We have two young children, so there are also a selection of toys for under fives which guests are welcome to use, as well as a swing, hammock swing, high chair and high quality travel cots.
Wildwood is one of the few properties in the Daintree which offers guests the chance to walk through World Heritage listed rainforest on a private, self-guided walking track. The land is home to many rare and endangered species of plant and animal life and the World Heritage listing means the land can never be cleared and will always be preserved for future generations.
There are two loops to the walk, the first takes approximately 30 mins and guests can walk both loops in a little over one hour.
Six years ago my husband, Chris, and I bought an escape in the rainforest for our two boys. While they are still young and we are living in Bondi we'd like others to have the chance to enjoy this very special house and part of the Daintree. It's the perfect escape from busy life to chill out, unwind and relax and the sounds of the rainforest that surround the cabins and house are just amazing. We both fell in love with it from our first stay and I hope you will too.
Our home - 'Wildwood' is set on 15 acres of rainforest, half of which is uncleared virgin rainforest and World Heritage listed. The other half is home to a rare exotic fruit orchard with over 800 trees and over 50 different species including mangosteen, miracle fruit, black sapote, soursop, rollinia, star apple and jaboticaba trees.
If you have any questions about our cottage and cabins, the amenities provided or the Daintree just drop me a line and I'd be happy to help
Have a great day, smiles and butterflies
