The space
Ski, board, mountain bike, hike the Tongariro Crossing & NZ's best trails or cosy up with a book & a glass of wine. This is the perfect place to shut down and unwind.

Conveniently located in a quiet street in Snowmass Village area just a 10 minute walk to Ohakune Town Centre and only a short stroll to the iconic Carrot Adventure Park featuring a wonderful new bike pump track, obstacle course and river walkway. Hire bikes from the local bike shop and hit the local mountain bike tracks. 30 Minutes by car to Turoa Ski field or 45 minutes to Whakapapa Ski Field. 35 minutes to the start of the Tongariro Crossing - with Shuttle Services to and from.

In a quiet cul-de-sac, overlooking trees and paddocks to the back, Redrock Hut offers all the comforts of home in a compact, cosy, clean, fully furnished, rustic cabin. Redrock sleeps 7 guests, 6 adults max in three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The bunk room is small, so more suited to children but can accommodate adults on the bottom bunks if required. Quality linen and towels provided with every booking. There's enough toxic overload in our lives - you don't need it on holiday! We try to only use eco friendly and toxin-free cleaning products so you can feel cleansed and restored staying with us.

Although compact a full sized kitchen and laundry/drying room offer all the amenities a family needs for their winter or summer mountain adventures. We provide a locked shed to keep your bikes/ski gear stored safely. Large kitchen table to accommodate those family meals and doubles as a great workspace.

After a day on the slopes, bike or trails, this is a magical place to unwind with a glass of wine and reflect on the days adventures or play some board games and create memories.

In the evening enjoy a movie on Chromecast or visit one of the many wonderful local restaurants and bars in Ohakune Township.

Redrock Hut is designed with love for families, friends, or busy couples in need of a quiet, rejuvenating hiatus. Linen, quality bedding and a cleaning service are provided as well as tea and coffee.

The charming resort town of Ohakune, the small settlement of Rangataua and the army town of Waiouru are connected through history by the north Island Main Trunk Railway, completed in 1907. A short drive from Turoa ski area, with its fertile soil rich with volcanic ash, Ohakune is known as the Carrot Capital of New Zealand, reflecting the importance of market gardening to this area.

From indoor rock climbing, to guided horse treks, short bush walks, world-class trout fishing and easy cycle trails, Ohakune has a plethora of family friendly activities to enjoy. Hire bikes from the local bike shop or sip on a cuppa from one of the many local cafe/eateries. The famous Carrot park is only a 10 minute walk with a new pump track to keep the kids busy. Take a dip in the local swimming pool or one of the many refreshing local watering holes. The town is serviced by a local New World for all your essentials. In winter take a short drive up the mountain road to Turoa ski area, you can hire a toboggan and play with the kids in the snow, or take a scenic chairlift ride to experience incredible views of the alpine landscape. Or take a ride up the Sky Waka for amazing views over Tongaririo National Park in summer.

Getting around
Travel to Ohakune by car, or for the more adventurous, take the scenic train from Auckland.
