We’re very sorry Lincoln didn’t enjoy his stay. That said, many of his complaints are a little puzzling to us. Our cleaners are very thorough, and we’ve never once in hundreds of reviews had a complaint about spiders or bugs. It’s true, we are in the woods - so if you leave doors and windows open insects can get in. Perhaps that’s what they saw. In any case, once again, I ask that if anyone sees an issue to PLEASE let’s us know right away - I could have easily had the cleaners in again if needed. Nothing we can do if we don’t know about it.
About the construction: There was noise near the cottage for a total of 3-1/2 hours - not “their whole stay”. We were up-front and compensated them fairly for this. There was no work at all over the weekend. As to the rest of the stay, well I don’t know how they could have heard so much noise from quiet work begin done some distance from them on the other side of the house. I couldn’t hear it from my own front porch. The privacy complaint, likewise, was overblown. Workers were in the driveway occasionally - but the driveway and front lawn are common spaces, and folks are always coming and going: that’s why we put blinds in the windows facing those areas. That said, if the guest had mentioned that they were bothered by the workers we could have asked them to keep it down near the cottage - but again, not a word to us. As to the listing, we did in fact include the word “rustic”, and we’re very clear about how the cottage is a work-in-progress with some details unfinished. We said explicitly hat folks seeking polished accommodations should look elsewhere. Most folks like the funky feel and recognize that they’d never get a space this enormous and well-located at this price if it were more polished. Im guessing the guest didn’t read the listing carefully.
All in all, rather picky guests, and not a match.
