House on a Hill is a 3 bedroom house located 10 minutes from scenic Dorrigo. The house is modern and fully-equipped for groups of 7, with sofa beds available for larger groups. Stunning views over the surrounding farmland which sweeps down to the Little Murray River mean plenty of beautiful walks around the farm chasing waterfalls and bird watching. There is a wood fire to snuggle in front of on cold winter's nights and plenty of space to relax and get back to nature surrounded by rainforest.

The space
The house is located on a farm about 10 minutes from the quaint town of Dorrigo, just off Waterfall Way. Access is on a fully sealed road, and guests can self check-in at any time. The house is set up to have everything you need for a comfortable and relaxing stay: comfortable beds, cosy woodfire with firewood provided, well-equipped kitchen, laundry and bathrooms, games and books, just like your own home. The hosts will be around sometimes working on the farm, and are happy to meet you and answer any questions you might have about our working beef farm, or leave you to relax and unwind in peace.

The farm has some amazing features, which you might like to explore while you are here. You can find mud maps and other information in the on-arrival pack once you check-in. Amongst the 50 acres of pristine rainforest on the farm, you will find several waterfalls as well as a plethora of wildlife, including lyrebirds, wallabies, bush turkeys and many rare and endangered species, including the Grey Goshawk. We welcome you to explore the farm on foot as much as you like and let us know what you find :)

Where you’ll be

The Dorrigo area is famous for its high rainfall unique Gondwana era rainforest environment, which the nearby World Heritage listed Dorrigo National Park is a part of. The main part of Dorrigo NP is the gorgeous rainforest centre and skywalk, which is about 15 minutes drive from House on a Hill and has a cafe and gift shop, and houses the Tourist Info Centre for the local area. It is the beginning of several great walks, including the Lyrebird Walk and the Canopy Walk (a boardwalk through the top of the rainforest - amazing!). Never Never Picnic Area is also a great place for a picnic, accessed by unsealed gravel roads, but a breathtaking drive.

Dorrigo is a quaint small town of just over 1000 people, famous for its productive farmland, vegetables (especially potatoes), beef, lamb and dairy. There are some great shops and cafes in town that do a great job, and your best bet is to explore the town on foot one day during your stay to get a feel for the great vibe.

The nearby town of Bellingen is a busy, happening joint where art, culture, music, food and shopping abound. Well worth a day trip to explore and enjoy. Be prepared for one of the most beautiful drives you will ever do as you head from Dorrigo to Bellingen through Dorrigo NP and down from 750m to 15m in just over half an hour.

Of course, it's only another 15 minutes from Bellingen to the beaches at Urunga, so why not.....

During your stay

I love meeting my guests, who so often have wonderful stories to share! Unfortunately, I'm not around the farm all the time. We live about an hour away, but are available by phone at all times of the day and night if you have a question and will try to meet you sometime during your stay (if you would like that!). We are equally as happy to give you the privacy and space to relax and unwind if you prefer.
