Looking for the perfect getaway for you and your other half? Look no further than The Dairy, with its unparalleled views, private outdoor area and cosy bedroom for two nestled up in the mountains.

The space
This converted dairy is the ideal choice for a couple looking to take a holiday in complete isolation, far away from busy highways with no neighbours except the cows.

Every morning you can make a cuppa in the modern kitchen with kangaroos hopping past through the field, and sit outside in the fresh air gazing at the trees, rolling hills and green mountains in the near distance. You can stretch your legs by wandering the 175-acre property or take a short stroll to Kangaroo Valley Pie Shop for a snack.

In the evenings you’ll be cosy inside with the spacious rain-head shower and combustion fireplace with a plentiful supply of chopped logs and kindling, and you can cook a romantic meal on the induction cooktop or the bbq outside. There are dozens of DVDs to choose from to cosy up on the couch and watch on the TV, or you can light a candle and put on some music to spend some quality time just enjoying the view.

The township of Kangaroo Valley is just a few minutes drive away with quaint shops, a candy store and a friendly pub to while away the hours. You’ll spend your leisurely days in each other’s company at The Dairy, happily disconnected from the outside world, enjoying all the beauty of nature with the luxuries of modern comforts.

$5 from every booking donated to local charities — a booking with Professional Holiday Homes supports local communities.

Where you’ll be

Barrengarry, Australia

Verdant farmland, spectacular wilderness and a tranquil river make this secluded spot in the Shoalhaven region one of Australia’s most beautiful valleys. Kangaroo Valley is a charming village known for its historic bridge, tea rooms and pies. It’s also a popular destination for kayaking, canoeing, golf and wine tasting.

Explore the Kangaroo River in a kayak from Kangaroo Valley Kayaks or Kangaroo Valley Safaris Kayak and Canoe Hire. Less than 20km away are two spectacular waterfalls: Fitzroy Falls and Gerringong Falls. For a waterside picnic, drive to Tallowa Dam, home to the largest fish lift of its kind in Australia.

Dating back to 1870, the main street evokes a sense of country charm, from its tea rooms to the heritage-listed pub, The Friendly Inn. Stop by the Kangaroo Valley Pie Shop, Kangaroo Valley Bakehouse or Southern Pies Kangaroo Valley for freshly made pies. For dessert, visit the Kangaroo Valley Fudge House and Ice Creamery.

Discover fascinating colonial history at the Kangaroo Valley Pioneer Village Museum and see the historic Hampden Bridge, Australia’s last surviving wooden suspension bridge, with its large sandstone turrets. There’s also horse riding to enjoy and special events, such as the three-day Kangaroo Folk Festival in October.

Take a short drive to Upper Kangaroo River for wine tasting at Yarrawa Estate. Sample delicious local olives and olive oil at Kangaroo Valley Olives, or attend a cooking class and private tour. You can also hone your culinary skills at Flavours of the Valley, a cooking school that uses local produce.

Kangaroo Valley is nestled between the Southern Highlands and NSW South Coast, about two hours’ drive from both Sydney and Canberra.
