Perched high in the hinterland you can relax and enjoy spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and valley. Our recently completed private lodge is a unique and romantic haven built into the loft of a rustic yet contemporary timber barn. Bordered by NPark, a truly tranquil and picturesque setting, just 30 min from Byron Bay.

The space

"Rise Farm" is a new rustic yet contemporary residence; a breathtaking personal sanctuary; peaceful and private, all for your pleasure.

Our uniquely designed and purpose built dwelling has two distinct spaces:

“The Loft @ Rise”

Located upstairs above the barn area is the primary area let for accommodation which we call the Loft.
The Loft @ Rise offers fully self contained kitchen, living and study area and a massive outdoor deck with slab timber bar and gas BBQ. With three bedrooms including a luxurious master bed suite with its king bed, ensuite, and its own private balcony.
Relax on the the deck (or while you rest on the king bed) and gaze over the picturesque green open pastures with cattle grazing, and adjoining forest and mountain ranges.

Spend the evening soaking in the tranquil surroundings with a glass of wine on the deck.

Details:
Kitchen – there is a fully self-catering kitchen available; including crockery, saucepans, napery, etc. The wood-fired oven underneath the fireplace allows you to cook while you enjoy a glass of wine and watch the flickering from an open fire.

Coffee – Nespresso pod coffee machine supplied with pods, enjoy!

Entertainment – 32′ tv, with a DVD/Blu-ray player and a BOSE sound system able to be used to play music from your smart phone.

“The Barn @ Rise” (downstairs area)
Guests booking the Loft will also have exclusive use of the barn area during their stay.
Booked primarily for events the lower level offers over 160m2 of beautiful yet rustic Scandinavian style barn area – with stylish extra high ceilings and huge bifold doors allowing for a breathtaking backdrop to any event. "The Barn" is lined with natural stained timber and has sealed and polished concrete flooring. From day to day this area is used to store farm machinery and equipment but can be cleared and transformed to create an amazing undercover function space seating up to 130 guests. For standard accommodation bookings (ie booking the loft) this area is NOT cleared out and will be partly taken up with stored farming equipment. Use of the residual space in this area for a standard booking is complimentary. Use of the whole downstairs space for functions is by negotiation.

Guest access

Check-in time 2pm, check-out time 10am. Extended check-out may be available subject to subsequent bookings.
Please note there are stairs up to the premises.

Interaction with guests

Where we can we will greet you on arrival but as this is not always possible we have developed a comprehensive Guest Manual we will forward you so you can get settled in and feel at home quickly.
Since we sometimes don't get to meet you we may not accept bookings from enquiries that don't seem fully transparent and informative. If you dont tell us openly about yourself and your party and the purpose of your stay we will probably decline your request.
We will want to touch base with you on the phone directly to say hi before your stay.


We respect the fact that people like their "space " so we will typically stay off site during your stay. If you run into any problems we are available by text to assist you with any questions regarding operating the facilities that you may have. (On Bluefest, Splendour or Falls weekends we may only allow guests on a boarding basis and we may choose to be on site and host you.)

Other things to note

Before you send information requests or enquiries , please read all the INFORMATION HERE on our Airbnb site first, as most questions people ask we already have answered here in our info.
Questions regarding ROOM RATES are better checked by yourself here on the site than asking us since the price fluctuates depending on currency exchange rates, Airbnb service fees, time of booking, your numbers etc. The system calculates the variables automatically. Consequently it is difficult for us to provide exact prices. Just enter your specific dates and true number of people to get the price from this airbnb web site.

The home has been designed to have a zero carbon footprint - it is eco-friendly and totally solar powered. The solar battery power supply system requires just a little diligence with power saving. If you are expecting a break where you can completely turn your brain off this is not the best accommodation for you. ----------

Our guest manual (available after you book) has extensive information on things to do; including how to gain access if we are not able to greet you on arrival, as well as emergency local contacts if you have trouble. ----------

Video Monitoring Declaration
As is the case in many accomodation foyers, to ensure security and compliance we have unfortunately found it necessary to video monitor the downstairs (farm and equipment storage) barn area of the building. As you would expect the upstairs living and accomodation area is NOT monitored.

Cleaning - The cleaning fee covers basic general cleaning but we ask guests to leave the residence in a reasonable state. We DONT expect you to break out the broom and mop etc before you leave --------------

Linen and Toiletries- Bed sheets and bath towels and tea towels are provided. Please bring your own toiletries. ----------

Kitchen - there is a fully self-catering kitchen available; including crockery, saucepans, napery, etc. There is a normal oven as well as wood-fired oven underneath the fireplace.

You will find a reasonably well-stocked community pantry and a range of cooking oils etc. We work on an HONESTY system - we have faith that humankind is inherently good and want to do the right think and return generosity - please help us keep that faith. So - If you use the last of something (leaving a smidge in the bottle doesn't leave enough for the next guest so is the same as using the last ;) please replace it so there is enough for the next person. If you use just a little of everything please contribute something of a similar value that will be usable by most people.

Entertainment - there is a wall mounted 32' tv, with a DVD/Blu-ray player and a BOSE sound system. ------------

Coffee - Nespresso pod coffee machine supplied with complimentary pods, coffe plunger and Aeropress all available , enjoy! -----------

Gym/fitness - basic gym equipment supplied (yoga mats, basic weights, bands etc). There are touring bikes available to use by our guests to cruise around the surrounding area (not suitable for off-road biking). -----------

Children - as there are electric cattle fences, unfenced dams, steep drop offs etc, the property is not suitable for children under 8 years old unless vigilant continuous supervision is your thing. ---------------

Farm - as this is a working farm there may on very odd occasions be a need for some farm staff to come onsite to tend to the animals. We work outside scheduled bookings (as much as possible) to ensure you have the place to yourself, but if we need to check stock while you are there we will send a text to let you know we are coming! ............

Being off grid and a working cattle farm this property has a few special requirements. These are well documented for you in our Guest Manual. It is essential that guests refer to the manual (emailed as part of your itinerary and a hard copy available on site) before making use of the property and its features fixtures fittings and amenities. Always feel free to text and ask in advance if you don't understand the instructions provided.

Managing the Off Grid Solar Battery Power Supply
The battery status needs to be checked each evening. If (after overcast weather or you have a large group), the LED battery status indicator shows four lights or less, to avoid damage to the batteries the auxiliary power generator must be plugged and started. (simple instructions provided in the guest manual). Most guests manage power consumption well and it is very very rare that the auxiliary power needs to be started.

Additional Overnight Guests
Only the number of guests booked can stay overnight. Don't be tempted to have extra friends stay over and crash "because there is plenty of room on the couch or empty beds". An Additional charge for each guest overt two guests covers additional risk, cleaning and wear and tear.

Pets
Guests wanting to take dogs must advise of numbers and breed at the time of initial booking enquiry. Dogs may not be allowed at certain times of the year due to the wild dog baiting program conducted by National Parks about 1.5km away over the range.
For the hygiene and comfort of future guests dogs are strictly allowed downstairs and outside only - they are not allowed upstairs at all.

Smoking
For insurance purposes smoking is strictly prohibited in and around the building.

Shoes
Turning Japanese - we have beautiful timber floors and we dont allow shoes inside.

Noise - as the valley is very quiet noise travels a long way. Even though neighbours are fair distance away we ask please respect their peace and quiet. To maintain the great relationship we have with our neighbours, we insist that you DO NOT make excess noise after 10.30pm. (NSW has daylight saving so that is 9.30pm eastern standard time). If we receive a complaint from the neighbour about excess noise after 10.30pm, we will compensate them with your security deposit. No party's.

We have loved our week here in this truly unique location. The peace, tranquility and beauty has been very restorative. The house is a fabulous design with beautiful bush and farmland views from all windows and the decks. We especially enjoyed the walks, both on the farm and in the local area, the early morning chorus of birdsong from the adjacent forest and the outdoor fireplace. The information Craig shared with us was clear and helpful and made it easy to settle in. Highly recommended to those who love peace, privacy and beauty in a bushland setting. (All with beaches and interesting hinterland villages a short drive away!)

Had a fantastic experience staying at Rise Farm, Relaxed in the tranquil surrounds of the valley, walked on the well designed tracks to the top of the valley and took in the million dollar views. Loved the bungalow setup and the east facing deck with a magnificent outlook over the valley farm lands! The living area and rooms generated a warm earthy feel through the architectural timber design! Just a short drive to Byron! A perfect place to rest, grow and strengthen the spirit!

The loft was everything that my partner and I could have wanted for a weekend escape. A beautiful outlook, well-appointed kitchen and comfortable living space. It was amazing to sleep surrounded by the stars (easily visible through the large windows/balcony door in the master bedroom). Scenic drives abound: to nearby Murwillumbah for the Margaret Olley gallery, Bangalow for markets and wanders, Byron for ice-cream and beaches, and heaps of bushwalks/hiking (we did the incredible Minyon falls during our stay). Craig was extremely responsive and his attention to detail with this amazing house was evident throughout our stay, with easy-to-follow directions to get the most out of the amenities. We're looking forward to our next visit!

The barn is amazing. It looks out over the rolling hills of northern NSW, and you're surrounded only by a small batch of cows and absolute serenity. Craig accepted a booking only a week out which was generous! He was friendly and clear about how the property operates - which may seem daunting at first but most of the instructions boil down to "don't be a disrespectful idiot" - so don't be disheartened by this aspect if you're reading the profile of this property because you'll miss out on a truly great experience. The loft is modern with excellent appliances / amenities / cooking facilities. Bring a bunch of food, a bottle of red, and an attitude to settle in for some true R&R and you will be set.

Craig's property was incredible. Better than described. The barn is beautiful and stylish and extremely comfortable. Very very relaxing on such a quiet property with stunning views of the sunrise. Craig was more than helpful, even offering to cook us a traditional Australian roast lamb. The drive out there was breathtaking. Like taking a time warp back to the colonial days. I wish we had stayed for longer.

Love the challenge of finding the balance of creating home designs that are both ecologically and economically sustainable. Detest opulent design.
