Kohima Orphanage and Destitute Home are opening its arms to welcome travellers to stay with us and interact with the jovial children. My grandmother, Zaputou-ü, an Angami, established this home for the welfare of the abandoned, orphans, destitute & handicapped some three decades back in 1973. This is the first organization in the region to work for the welfare of underprivileged children. There are 90 children living with us and making our lives more cheerful and they will make yours too.
The space
Our home consists of 1 comfortable room overlooking the children dormitory and school. The room has a comfortable king-size bed and an attached bathroom. We want you to open our homes to others and represent the symbol of love and strength for children without a home or parents. Children from different parts of Nagaland, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh and Myanmar are all proud members of Kohima Orphanage.

Location
Kohima, Nagaland, India
We are on the outskirts of Kohima. The infamous War Cemetery is closeby, the immaculate gardens in the cemetery stand as a memorial to the Allies who died on this very spot during the three-month Battle of Kohima that ended in April 1944.

My grandmother and my mother are the enigmatic forces in my life. I learned the act of kindness, gratitude and love from them. I learned the grim reality of society from their narratives as to how helpless children are victims of atrocities like destitution. If you want, I can take you around our little home which has opened its arms for more 700 children since it's inception.
