Potluck String Lodge (PSL) is situated within Prairie Island Campground. This tiny house tells a story through Ty Helbach's photograph of the the picking circle hosted in this site by PSL's namesake, the Potluck String Band, during the Boats and Bluegrass music festival. With cottony sheets, coffee & towels, paddle sport equipment & bikes, and an outdoor fire ring, you can simply show-up, relax, reconnect, and recreate.

The space
We want you to know that we’re doing our part to help our Airbnb guests stay safe by building in a 24-hour waiting period between stays, and cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched surfaces (light switches, doorknobs, cabinet handles, remotes, etc.) before you check in.

Upon arriving to Prairie Island Campground (PIC) and the Potluck String Lodge (PSL), YOU ARE HERE. Time slows in this site alongside the Mighty Mississippi River, the place that many paths and roads have led to. Allow casting a line, a flickering fire, taking a stroll, or sinking a paddle in the water to spur reflection and direction on where to go from here. In the words of Kenny Salway, the Last River Rat, "Each time that you step in the river, you never step into the same river. Change is the only constant." Discover new inspiration in the deeper truths that surface in the surrounding nature. Two paddle sport boats, such as canoes, kayaks, stand-up paddle boards, and 2-cruiser bikes, are included in your stay! Let us know your preferences so we can have them staged on site upon you arrival. Don't forget the bug repellent! The PSL is situated in the backwaters of the Mississippi River valley which is teeming with life. Also, a gas grill and a fire ring grate are available for outdoor cooking.

Typically, PIC boasts a vibrant Community Garden and Campstore where guests may connect with other guests, gather a few fresh ingredients for a meal when the garden is in production, and appreciate the efforts of local artists. The summer of 2020, however, the Campstore is closed. You can still purchase firewood, ice, Prairie Island Campground apparel, and bug repellent. During these uncertain times, we decided to renovate the grounds so that next summer, we can open up better than ever. We look forward to bringing back yoga, fun family educational programming that centers on observing the surrounding ecology, live music, and movies projected on an outdoor screen in the summer of 2021.

Potluck String Lodge (PSL) is located in the City of Winona municipal campground. While the weekdays are very quiet, the weekends would typically bring more activity on a normal year. The tiny house is located in a spacious camping site.

Guest access
As guests of Prairie Island Campground, you have access to the swimming beach and dock, the Community Garden, and the frisbee golf course. The greater Prairie Island park includes the Black Bird Slough canoe trail, shoreline fishing, river bottom forested hiking trails, boat launches, dog park, and more! Downtown Winona is just a 20-30 minute bike ride. Please view the website for Prairie Island Campground and Visit Winona for more information about regional outdoor recreation opportunities.
