The House

This is a clean, quiet and relaxed home with a lovely ambience. Spacious rooms and a large deck overlook a beautiful rainforest garden and there is a hammock and lounge to relax on. .

The house is situated in a safe, well established neighbourhood on the southside of Cairns 15 mins drive from Cairns CBD and Marina. There is also a bus stop 7 mins walk away with buses available to the city. The driveway provides off road parking for hire cars. There is also a good 30 minute return walk up the hill for those that would like some exercise in the morning - you can see Green Island from the top!

The house has 2 spacious bedrooms, an open plan lounge area, one toilet and a separate bathroom. The bedrooms have arched doorways and are separated from the main area by thick curtains. Each room has a very comfortable queensize bed and sleeps 2.

A large fully equipped kitchen with electric oven, gas top, microwave, coffee machine and fridge is available for guests to use. Most guests like to eat outside on the verandah overlooking the rainforest garden. There is also a bbq/grill if you like to cook outside. I ask that you please clean up after yourselves. There is also a TV and a DVD player available.

This home is unique, surrounded by tall, magnificent trees. Birds and butterflies are abundant here. It makes a great base for those wanting to explore the Tablelands, Cape Tribulation and beaches. Birdwatchers will also love the variety of birds here.

Yoga & Meditation

I facilitate reiki treatments & teach Traditional Japanese reiki here so if you are interested in learning please let me know. Recently I completed my Yoga Teacher training so offer FREE yoga and meditation for those who are interested .

Tours & Reef Trips

I love hosting people and am happy to help you plan your trip. For years I worked in travel in Cairns so can give you advice on where to go and where to get discounts on trips. I also offer personalized tours for guests to the Tablelands and Cape Tribulation.

Towels and linen are provided. Free Wifi is available.

Continental breakfast is included.. Tea, coffee, muesli, toast, jam etc.

Please contact me for bookings and further information. Julie

The house is not suitable for pets or young children.

Guest access

Guests are welcome to use all areas of the house inside and outside. With the common areas, kitchen, bathroom etc I do ask that guests leave these clean and tidy after use. Thank you.

Interaction with guests

I enjoy interacting with guests and all guests are different. I respect that some guests are very happy doing there own thing whilst others like more connection and time with the host. I am happy to 'go with the flow'!

Other things to note

Occassionally I rent both rooms out to other guests especially in the busy season. I find this works really well and guests enjoy meeting other travellers and can make new friends..

My stay at Julie's home was just wonderful! She's an open, warmhearted and interested person and we had a great time! As she teaches original japanese reiki and meditation, it's possible to book a workshop with her which I did and can recommend very much. The nature around the house is so beautiful! A disadvantage may be the distance to Cairns Center if you haven't got a car. It takes 40 min. by bus, but buses are running frequently and next bus stop is just a few min. walk. A heap of stars for Julie! Christina from Hamburg

Response from Julie:
Hi Christina, thank you so much for staying and I'm glad you enjoyed the Reiki 1 Course. I think you were unlucky with the bus as they usually only take 30 mins and I'm very happy to take guests into town whenever I'm going to the city. Safe travels.

Julie is a wonderful host! Her house is perfect for a retreat in Cairns. It is not far from the city and we used the bus stop down the street. We enjoyed dinners on her porch. It is very peaceful. I would recommend if you are looking for a quiet place in a beautiful environment.

Had a wonderful time at Julie s place, it s really lovely and peaceful. Especially had a nice time chilling out on the deck around the house ! We unfortunately didnt get to meet Julie herself, but Nadine who was taking care of the house for her was very friendly and welcoming. Great experience overall, highly recommended.

This is a great space for anyone looking for peace and quiet but still close enough to the city for day trips and excursions to the surrounding attractions of Cairns. The energy here is great due the to focus on healing and meditation. Julie was very helpful and easy to communicate with.

Julie is a fabulous host and me made me feel very welcome in her lovely, and immaculately tidy house. Being a little out of town it is a wonderful, quiet haven in which to relax, but also a very easy bus ride (from just the end of the road) in to the centre of town . Julie collected me from the airport and although she was not going to be back at the house until late made sure that there something for me to eat if I didn't feel like going into town. Julie is very thoughtful of her guests and it was great to get to know her. I would recommend Rainforest Reiki Retreat to anyone looking for a calm, relaxing place to stay in Cairns.

Julie is a lovely host! She is quick to reply to emails, most knowledgable in the area and extremely hospital. I very much enjoyed her delightful home and left feeling very relaxed! Great wifi, lovely bed, very good water pressure in the shower, convenient laundry, good breakfast and a hammock to die for....!! I would go as far to say this was the best AirBnB stay I've had and I would certainly recommend it!

Response from Julie:

Originally from the UK, I have lived in Cairns for 24 years and was involved in tourism for 15 years so am happy to give you ideas for your stay here. Since then I have started my own Reiki business and do treatments, facilitate Courses and instruct people in meditation. Recently I completed my Yoga Teacher training so if you'd like to learn some I'm happy to share.

I love hosting people from overseas and thought Airbnb would be a great opportunity to do more of this.

My passion is travel both overseas and around the local area. I enjoy reading a good book, yoga and getting together with friends. I also enjoy good food, relaxation music and conversation.

My motto in life is BE HAPPY and make the most out of every day.
