The space
We love long term guests. So, please inquire about your plans for a longer stay to the area.
Bordered by a natural, undeveloped area, there are very few obstructions to your view from this home. The adjacent natural areas also provide ample opportunity to observe many species of local and migratory birds who pass through this part of coastal Texas. One birding enthusiast guest recorded 52 species sightings in one day...all at or within 5 miles of the property. From the house, head about a third of a mile south to stroll out onto sandy Gulf Coast beaches for days of fun in the sun and surf. You may walk...but you can also drive directly onto the beach from the house. Hop onto State Highway 87 and drive down to the end of the Bolivar Peninsula, where you can take a free ferry across the channel to visit historic Galveston for shopping, dining, museums, galleries, and so much more. And for those looking for some outdoor adventure, be sure to visit the Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge, just 40 miles away, for hiking, birdwatching, and fishing.
Back at the house, share updates, photos, and videos of your vacation with friends and family thanks to the free WiFi. Watch your favorite shows on the two cable TVs, or bring along a few DVDs and program your own movie nights. On the lower level, there are picnic tables and a grill if you want to have a family cookout. You'll also find a private outdoor shower here and a cozy hammock for those lazy afternoons. Up top, climb the spiral staircase that leads to the sundeck, where you can enjoy the view and catch a few rays.

*Up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome. All dogs must be recently washed prior to entering the home. Thanks!
*Please contact us for our special snowbird rates!
*Please note 4th bedroom doubles as a large "game-room" with sleeping areas but has no closet.
*Please note that this home resides in a noise-sensitive area and the owners participate in our Good Neighbor protection program. Our smart home technology will alert our team if excessive decibel or occupancy levels are detected, allowing us to reach out directly with a friendly reminder rather than risking a noise complaint from a neighbor. This technology is privacy compliant, and only monitors the presence of decibels and devices—not any personal conversation or information. Thank you for supporting our efforts to be good neighbors!
Guest access
You may access the entire property except the garage space. There is off street parking for up to 6 vehicles including boats or utility vehicles. There is an outdoor shower, concrete slab/patio on the ground level with picnic tables, and an observation deck over 40' high for taking in the views.
On the interior there are two floors with one bed room down and 3 upstairs....and a full bathroom on each floor.
Other things to note
Our property is not directly on the beach...but it affords very easy access to the beach via a 1/4 mile walk (7-8 minutes) or the vehicle (1 min drive) of your choice. There is no stop sign between the house and the beach.
PERMITS: In contrast to Galveston, the Bolivar peninsula allows you to drive your motorized vehicle directly onto the beach and tour for miles if you wish. If you choose to drive your vehicle on the beach, the county requires a beach permit sticker. The permit is about $10 and is usually available at local gas stations or convenience stores. If you get caught on the beach by the police without a sticker, they almost always will kindly sell you a sticker on the spot.
SAFETY: Safe beach practices include...
- Wear sunscreen
- Do not leave items on the beach unattended (don't leave items and go back to the house)
- Wear life jackets if appropriate
- Be aware of ocean conditions and weather. The gulf shores can have an undertow effect that in severe cases can pull swimmers down the coast or out to sea. It can be difficult to swim against.
-We rarely have many jellyfish, but avoid contact with jellyfish or other potentially harmful marine life.
