Beautiful area

Guests love this home’s scenic location.
This historic church, established in 1872, is nestled in the heart of the Shenandoah Forest and just a 15 minute drive from the famed Skyline Drive. Situated in the forest in an idyllic setting next to a babbling brook, The Church House is the ultimate nature retreat – only a short 90 minute drive from Washington DC.

The space
Featuring a large central area for gathering family and friends, a large farmhouse dining table, and a fully stocked kitchen, The Church House is primed for gathering and entertaining while also serving as a quiet retreat for two. With century old original details, such as a 12 foot by 12 foot hand painted mural by a traveling pastor that depicts Jesus with a flock of sheep in the Shenandoah Valley and serves as the concave backdrop for the original alter. This and much more makes this property a once in a lifetime experience waiting to be had.

Nestle up next to a fire in the wood stove and soak in the surrounding forest views. Downstairs, where the original Sunday School once was, is a master queen bedroom and master bath. Upstairs you’ll find an open air loft with a king size bed, as well as two XL twins with the option of twin trundles underneath. This loft is an airy, 800 square feet, with views of the outside forest, a nook for reading, meditating, or enjoying your morning coffee.

Traveling with little ones? The loft also has a fully stocked toy chest, bath toys, and an optional port-a-crib should you need it. Part of the loft is a large bathroom featuring an extra-large jacuzzi bath, walk-in shower, as well as his and her sinks. Take a bath while enjoying the sound of the creek rushing by and the views of the forest outside.

Ready to venture outside? The church house experience continues as you walk into the fully-designed backyard. Waiting for you is a professional quality grill, hot tub that can accommodate 7 people, and a fire pit set on local river stones and situated right alongside the creek.

The Church House is pet friendly with an additional fee applied at check out.

The church house is located on one of the most popular loops for local bikers and runners – gooney manor loop – explore the rolling hills, local farms, and stunning views bordering the Shenandoah National Park.
