Your Room

Located in a clean, quiet, open plan home with a lovely ambience. The room overlooks a beautiful rainforest garden and there is a large verandah to relax on.

The house is situated in a safe, well established neighbourhood on the southside of Cairns 10-15 mins drive from Cairns CBD and Marina. There is also a bus stop 7 mins walk away with buses available to the city. The driveway provides off road parking for cars. There is also a good 30 minute walk up the hill for those that would like some exercise in the morning - you can see Green Island from the top!

The house has 2 spacious bedrooms, an open plan lounge area, one toilet and a separate bathroom. The bedrooms have arched doorways and are separated from the main area by thick curtains. Each room has a very comfortable queensize bed and sleeps 2.

A large fully equipped kitchen with electric oven, gas top, microwave, Nespresso coffee machine and fridge is available for guests to use. Most guests like to eat outside on the verandah overlooking the rainforest garden. A bbq/grill is also available.

This home is unique, surrounded by tall, magnificent trees. Birds and butterflies are abundant here. It makes a great base for those wanting to explore the Tablelands, Cape Tribulation and beaches. Birdwatchers will also love the variety of birds here.

Free highspeed NBN wifi included & towels & linen.

Julie's place is perfect if you are looking for a peaceful and relaxing space. The backyard is really quite incredible. The house is surrounded by trees and has a decent chunk of real forest right within the backyard. If you are looking for somewhere to unwind, doze off in the hammock, read a book or do yoga or meditation this just the spot. (All of which I did - minus the meditation) Fantastic hospitality, excellent local tips, clean and welcoming. Julie went above and beyond, dropping me off in town a couple of times and also giving me my first yoga lesson. Julie was responsive and easily contactable. Minimal drawbacks however guests would be reminded to consider that this is not close to the Cairns CBD and that there is a shared bathroom. That said this is reflected in the price and considering you are only sharing with 1 person this accommodation still represents excellent value.

Response from Julie:
Thanks Ashley. I'm glad you had such a relaxing stay. For me having a rainforest garden with a retreat environment only 10-15 mins easy drive from the CBD is close! I've always felt privilaged to have the best of both worlds.

I had a wonderful stay at Julie's place within the rainforest! Very serene with a beautiful outside setting and many relaxing places. Julie was away but still made sure that I was welcomed. I will be staying again! Thank you Julie for providing such a lovely space for people.

Loved our stay at the beautiful Rainforest abode. The rainforest is right on your doorstep with birdsong day and night. Very well decorated suited our tastes and really relaxing. We were really lucky and got the place to ourselves over the 4 nights even though it would have been a pleasure to meet the host Julie. Would highly recommend a stay has everything that you need, having transport is a big plus to get around Cairns though walking and public buses are possible. Thanks Adam n Tanya

Rainforest Reiki is such a beautiful, peaceful place where we loved staying. Julie was such a welcoming, friendly person who couldn't do enough for us. She took us to Palm Cove, collected us from and took us to the airport. We both felt so much at home. I loved having some Reiki and meditation with Julie. Sitting on the balcony watching the rain fall on the gorgeous rainforest garden was magnificent. So was lying in bed listening to the rain on the roof. Thanks Julie for a wonderful holiday in Cairns.

We have just returned from a 5 night stay at Julie's wonderful rainforest home. She made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble, we felt privileged to be there. Her house is situated an easy 10 minute walk to the bus stop with frequent 25 minute journeys to the centre of Cairns. Julie conducts a number of day trips which she personalises to meet your interests, we chose 2 trips - the Atherton Tablelands and Daintree Rainforest. She provides picnic lunches to maximise the time at the areas visited. At Atherton we walked the 3 km around Lake Eacham and swam in the warm clear water. We visited the curtain fig tree on the way to the pretty historic village of Yungaburra. Picnic lunch at Millaa Millaa Falls finishing at Granite Gorge where we fed wallabies, some with joey's in their pouches. What a wonderful, never to be forgotten day. At Daintree we walked the Jindalbah boardwalk in the rainforest and swam in the Blue Hole, on Aboriginal land (permission sought by Julie). We did a fabulous croc cruise on the Daintree river, seeing a number of crocodiles warming in the sun. We will never forget what we saw on both trips, off the normal tourist routes, and enhanced by Julie's extensive knowledge of the area and great fun. In summary, if you want to stay in a beautiful house with a friendly, relaxed, knowledgable hostess, this is the place to be!

What a cool venue! The place was absolutely fantastic. Comfortable and with full bathroom/kitchen. Seemingly Julie uses the space for work, but she puts in 110% to make sure that your stay is comfortable, with all the amenities and kitchen tools you need. Be sure to keep the noise down since bedrooms don't have doors (they have curtains for privacy).
