The space
Within the Chihuahuan Desert region surrounded by a ring of mountains nestles Alpine, Texas. We are close to Big Bend National Park, Big Bend Ranch State Park, the Rio Grande, the Chihuahuan Desert Institute and McDonald Observatory with its star parties and exhibits. There are also many artists and galleries in Alpine, Marathon, Marfa, & Terlingua as well as the Museum of the Big Bend in Alpine. There are more than 10 Alpine Wall Murals to view as you walk around Alpine. Alpine has many events, hiking scenic drives such as the Rio Grande River Road, bird and wildlife watching, mountain biking, bicycle races, jeep tours, horseback riding, rafting, golf courses and Waqssermann Wranch Ranch Petting Zoo.

Friendly host knowledgable of Big Bend hikes and local attractions and restaurants.

There is a music scene you can investigate often while dining. Balmorhea Springs and pool is wonderful in season, and the Chinati Hot Springs throughout the year if you want a change up from the Hot Tub.

With modifications due to covid: Good breakfast places are the Bread and Breakfast, Penny's Diner if you like the 60's feel. Behind Front Street Books is Cedar Coffee and Supply. Enjoyable lunch and dinner restaurants include the Alpine Oriental Express, The Cedar Creek Restaurant and La Casita. The Holland Hotel and the Reata Restaurant both have outdoor patios. Many places have music during the week like the Holland, the Railroad Blues, The Crystal Bar and The Old Gringo Coffee and Cocktails. Thrift stores include Second Bloom for women, Deja Vu, and The Alpine Humane Society Thrift Store. Alpine also has one movie theater--the Rangra, run by an ex-mayor of Alpine. B's Day Spa is one of several beauty salons. Many other discoveries await besides these.

Sandra and Richard have traveled to Puerto Rico, Hawaii, and many of the states in the USA. Richard has been to Cuba. And in the mid eighties we spent 8 months in Mexico with short trips there and then visited Belize and Guatamala. Sandra also spent 5 months in her Little Guy Teardrop traveling with her cat in Texas. So we love a good adventure then and now. If we are'nt traveling we love to host guests who are.
