Swan Center is designated as a sacred space for deep inner connection. No alcohol please. Ideal for retreat into serenity & comfort, this studio is a repurposed cabin, often used as a healing space for clients. It overlooks the top of the Swan Creek valley. You are free to walk about the wooded and meadow land. You can view a neighbor's lake, cows, & horses across the fence line. The land is abundant with wildlife and plants, organic by virtue of being stewarded for years with no chemical use.

The space
The studio has a single bed, shelves, fold-down table, chairs, kitchenette, full bathroom, and great views. Outside is your own sitting area in the front overlooking gardens and the valley. There are acres of mowed land to walk plus road frontage. Guests can pick in season from gardens with varieties of mints and herbs and walk the land, while giving chalet guests privacy. The chalet, listed as Uplifting Retreats at Swan Center on Airbnb, is a larger dwelling about 100 feet away. There is an uninhabited Airstream RV parked next to the studio.

Guest access
You have the patio out front, the covered deck next to the Airstream/office right outside, and all 11 acres of meadow and forest except close up to the chalet when other guests are there. On your walk down the gentle slope you can see a nearby a rustic homestead with horses, cows, lake and barn. In wet weather there is a bit of a creek running down the valley.

Summertown, Tennessee, United States

In our small unincorporated town, Summertown, we have a few places to eat, shop, mail letters, maintain your car, a hair salon and barber, a Little League ball field, and a medical clinic. South and west of us (8-12 miles) is Amish country. We are near Meriwether Lewis State Park and the Natchez Trace, Stillhouse Hollow Falls, and the Buffalo River. A bit further away going south, In Lawrenceburg we have David Crockett State Park, which has a restaurant and lake. Within 20-35 minutes you can be in the lovely historic towns of Hohenwald, Ethridge, Mt. Pleasant, and Columbia.

Please note: I host both on and off The Farm. “Uplifting Retreat at Swan Center” is 2.1 miles from The Farm. My life has been dedicated to peace - in self, family, community and the world. With 150 or so others we co-founded The Farm spiritual community in TN in 1971. Later I became a mother, accountant, teacher, massage therapist, designer and builder, and have always loved building good soil. I lived in many places, but keep coming back home to Tennessee where I live in a forest with my sweetheart, Tomas, among several hundred old and new friends.. We enjoy world music, sharing meals, building community, singing sacred songs, and doing the Dances for Universal Peace. With friends I created my latest project, a manifestation of a vision I have held for 27 years, a retreat center on 11 rural acres to host people with a menu of options including silence and solitude. I offer massage, energy work, coaching on empathy and intuition, classes on self care, healing, and creativity, with the surrounding gardens, pond, fields and forest for relaxation and growth. All has been created with the intention to support guest's connection to the Divine, within and all around us. Life just keeps getting better and better. I love to meet and get to know people, knowing we are all "cousins." Supporting people's unique gifts brings me joy. But I respect guests' and friends' privacy, and all are welcome to establish their desired boundaries. (Hugs are cool with me!)
