Vibrant neighbourhood

Guests say this area is walkable with lots to explore, especially for dining out.
A tiny light filled liveable loft nestled amongst gum trees, acclaimed as possibly Melbourne’s most subversively inventive small studio space. Just minutes to wonderful cafes in Brunswick Street, Fitzroy - no need to eat in! Nearby trams to the city.

The space
Designed and renovated by local architects, craftsmen and builders, this unique ‘small wonder’ with vertical proportions has a ladder that accesses the upper living floor via a hatch which lifts up. This ply stairway is also the sloping, sliding door to the tiny bathroom – with a shower, toilet and hand basin. In the studio, the double bed slides away under the utilities bench - housing a bar fridge, sink, electric jug, cupboards and shelves. A craftsman’s unique clothes rail is there for your clothes and a number of power points are in the room. The octagonal room’s large windows can have the light shading cellular blinds (insulating) set to allow as much light as you like. The decking outside the studio, sheltered by a big gum tree, is an ideal spot to sit before heading out or coming ‘home’. NB please read "Other details to note".
Just to reassure you – all the Tardis’ wooden surfaces, floors, and handles are cleaned with a cleaner and disinfectant, all the linen is freshly washed.
During the day you may enjoy the sound of chookies below (no – no crowing rooster!) as well as birds in the trees. They are the Welcoming Committee.

Guest access
Guests need to be physically agile – for the spiral outdoor stairs or the internal ladder-like stairway. The Tardis is not suitable for children.
The self-contained studio is in a terrace backyard - there is no expectation that guests will come to the house.
Access to the studio is via a well lit blue stone lane surrounded by townhouses. The key safe is beside the gate which provides immediate access to the studio. If you arrive at night you need a torch or mobile phone to be able to see the numbers on the combination lock.
The Tardis door beside the back gate opens with a push or pull (NOT a twist)– and provides at ground level, access to the bathroom, in front of which there are sliding stairs up to the manhole above, providing access to the studio.
Alternatively if you have heavy bags, past the work shed, there are spiral stairs up to the decking and studio.
Parking in the nearby lane is unrestricted. However in York Street, parking for non-residents is limited to 1 or 2 hrs.

Other things to note
This tiny self-contained studio does not stretch to full kitchen facilities or laundry.
There is a bar fridge with fresh milk and fruit juice and an electric jug, tea and coffee sachets, and a bowl of fresh fruit. There is a wonderful range of cafes and restaurants within a short walk where you can indulge in breakfast lunch and dinner, along with fine wines and coffees.
On warm and hot days/evenings apart from the insulating cellular blinds there is a small fan to help cool the studio.
On cold days / evenings there are rugs to wrap around your shoulders and hot water bottles for the bed - as well as a thick winter weight doona. A small heater is available.
Wifi is available - but the carrier is Optus and the signal is not strong for other carriers.
Check in and out times might be able to be negotiable - check with Lin.

Lives in Fitzroy, Australia
A farm girl at heart living in an old two-storey terrace in wonderful Fitzroy. Easy going, busy (often not home!) and caring. I enjoy meeting people young/old, gay/straight, First Australian/Australian (everyone who has arrived here after the custodians of this land) - and having fun before I get old!!!
