With it's new port that hosts private yachts, secret tiny bays with crystal clear water, Cesme Castle, white sand beaches, cobblestone streets, bazaar, fish restaurants, "kumru sandwiches" and night life 'Ceshme' is one of the most popular beach towns of well-heeled Turks as well as international tourists. It's 30 min drive away from our house on a 6 lane highway.
One of the pretties Mediterranean villages. 20 min away from our house from the new highway. Dining at some of the most amazing restaurants, afternoon stroll in the handcrafts bazaar, Turkish coffee in the village center are only few things to do after a day at the beach, or surfing. Alacati is considered as on of the best spots for windsurfing in the world. There are bunch of beach clubs, where you can lounge and have a cocktail and just enjoy watching surfers, or take classes and become one of them!
You can do day trips to one of the largest ancient city Ephesus, and beautiful wineries of Shirince, and Urla. Lots to explore in the area, and we'll be happy to show you around.
Now there are also daily ferries to the Greek island of Chios from Cesme port, for a round trip costing only 30 Euros. You get the chance of exploring both sides of the Aegean sea.
When you come back from your day trips you'll sip the local wines to the most beautiful sunsets from the terrace of your room.
Your Hosts and Details about the House:
Your hosts will be my parents, who are retired and have been living in this house most of the year for almost 7 years.
It's a 3 story house, with living room, kitchen, a small toilet and their winter garden room on the first floor; 3 bedrooms and the bathroom on the second floor and a big bedroom with a refrigerator, fireplace (which we don't use much in the summer!), AC, and a nice terrace on the third floor. We always have a lot of international guests, as both me and my brother have been living abroad for many years and have a lot of friends from all around the world that would like to come and enjoy the mediterranean breeze in our terrace every once in a while. This year I decided to list the room on the top floor here, to provide them a little additional income and keep them occupied.
I'll be doing the correspondences, as they don't speak perfect English - but they are both amazing communicators in person.
There are very affordable local charter flights from Istanbul or Antalya to Izmir. Or even direct flights from a lot of European cities. Pegasus Airlines ((URL HIDDEN) or Atlas Jet, or Onur Air has great deals. Once you land in Izmir you can either rent a car from the airport and I can give directions to the house- which would be the best option to go around the area, to all the aforementioned attractions, or my dad can pick you up in his cute little chevy!
You can rent their car to go around for daily trips, but they wouldn't mind picking you up from the main street if you were to take public transportation to the beaches, or go down to town center for groceries..etc.
Also, feel free to buy fresh fish, or what ever you like from the local stores and throw on the BBQ in the garden for dinner. They will be happy to share some Raki (Turkish traditional liquor - like Ouzo, or Pastis) with you around the garden table.
Enjoy your stay - I'm already jealous...
As in most Turkish houses we prefer not to go into our house with shoes.
You can use the kitchen, refrigerator. And hopefully will utilize the dishwasher and won't leave your dishes to my mom :)
Also, please keep in mind that this is not a hotel room, and as there are advantages and beauties of sharing someone's house (experiencing the real life in a foreign country), there are also things to pay attention to. Like, being courteous , considerate to the host's life.
My parents (your hosts) are lively and a modern couple, that won't go to sleep till late in the evening. But, they would appreciate if you don't make loud noise or party in the terrace till 3 am. As long as you are careful with noise, and pay attention to locking the doors properly, you can of course come in and out of the house anytime you want.
Thanks for your consideration in advance, have a lovely and peaceful stay.
