Where you’ll be

Aarhus, Denmark

The apartment is just around the corner to the vibrant street, Jægergårdsgade, filled with restaurants - both for the brunch, lunch and dinner.

At Street Coffee you get one of the best coffees in town.

Within 100 meter, you find both Rema 1000 and Netto, where you can do your grocery shopping.

And on the same street as that and at Jægergårdsgade, you find lots of opportunities for great take away. Let us know, what you prefer. And we can guide you.

Also within a 5 minutes walking distance, you find Frederiksbjerg Park. A great place to go and enjoy a sunny afternoon with the kids, as there is a great playground for kids from 0 and up till the age of 9. You also have outside, free of charge, training facilities and you can play pétanque or bring the soccer and play some ball.

A 10 minutes walk will take you to Aarhus City Hall - also surrounded by a great park. And within same range, you can access the Museom of Modern art ARoS - with the enchanting rainbow panorama on top. Don’t miss the opportunity to see all of Aarhus from the above in the colours of the rainbow, when you take a tour around in the art piece by Olafur Eliasson called “Your Rainbow Panorama”.

Going 3 minutes from the City Hall park, you enter the main shoppings streets of Aarhus.
Go through the city and down to the Aarhus Cathedral, and you will soon enter the cobbled area called Latinerkvarteret. Here you find lots of special shops often owned by the locals and of high quality products, clothes and naturally also a lot of great cafes.

Along the creek, running through the city Center, you find a lot of cafes too. Römer as one example and Grappa another recommendable place. Here you always find a lot of people - both locals and tourists - having their brunch, lunch, afternoon coffee or dinner. Often the sun hits most of the places, you can sit outside. All the places along the creek have a good standard of food quality and service.

20 minutes walk through city Center will take you to DOKK1. The most ambitious in DK when it comes to interaction and always very lively library with great playground activities outside and many many opportunities for the kids to play, read, be creative, play games and tumble around inside.
Down by the cafeteria, you can sit down and read newspapers and magazines - from around the world - for free.
They have a small cafeteria, that is fine for coffee and a light snack. But I recommend to go other places for your lunch.

Going for 30 minutes towards east, you can find the beautiful and very big park called Mindeparken - placed just in front of the Queen of Denmark’s Easter and summer castle - Marselisborg Castle.
Here people will bring their picnic basket - both for the lunch, afternoon snacks or dinner. There is also a fantastic playground and a stunning view over the Aarhus Bay Area.

8 minutes walk from the apartment will take you to the vivid and charming marked of Ingerslev Boulevard. Every Wednesday and Saturday from 08.00 - 14.00 you can go and find fresh vegetables, meat, cheese, fresh baked bread, great coffee and on Saturday you also have a boot market where the locals go and sell and buy used clothes and furnitures and paintings and all sorts of things.

By bike, car or bus, you can get to Moesgaard Museum. An absolutely fantastic architectural pearl and ever exciting exhibitions take you through the history of Denmark and other places and historic events in a highly interactive and multi sensed experience. You can hear, see, feel and take part in the history yourself.
There is a nice cafeteria/restaurant and often they offer the opportunity to bring things out for a picnic on the top of the building, as it is build into the landscape and is covered with grass and offers a beautiful view of Marselisborg forrest and Moesgaard Beach.

Those are some of the things to go and enjoy, while you stay in Absalonsgade 16.

But please let us know in advance if you have special interests. And we will do our beat to guide you.
