'The Edge' is situated in Binalong Bay, right in the heart of the stunning Bay of Fires conservation area on Tasmania's East coast. A quiet peaceful retreat, it sits right on the edge of the tranquil Grants lagoon and a lovely lagoon-side walk takes you to the beaches the area is famous for. The open plan space is warm and bright, receiving all day sun. Beautiful views over the water and surrounded by a large sundeck and a semi tropical garden - The Edge is a perfect place to relax and unwind.

The space
The whole property is exclusively yours to enjoy. The open plan studio is fresh and inviting, furnished with many hand crafted Tasmanian made pieces.
It features a Tasmanian oak king size bed, and a large leather couch, both enjoy views over the lagoon. The deck has a BBQ, dining table, comfy chairs and a sun lounge,- perfect to enjoy a drink from as you watch the sunset over the lagoon. There is a full size kitchen and an additional outdoor BBQ area at the rear of the shack.

Grants Lagoon is a lovely peaceful waterway, wonderful for swimming, paddling, fishing and watching the numerous bird species that call it home. The Edge is one of only half a dozen homes lucky enough to have the lagoon only 20 paces from its front door and is away from the road and the more built up area of Binalong bay. There is a pretty walking trail along the lagoon for a relaxing stroll to the Beach and cafe/restaurant.

Other things to note
The Telstra network has excellent coverage in the Bay of Fires- other may networks may not be so lucky...
There’s no shop in Binalong so you will need to stock up on groceries in St Helens (7 minute drive away) before coming out to Binalong. The Hub pizza restaurant (the only business in Binalong) sell good local wine, beer and other treats!

Binalong Bay is a small holiday village and is the first in a series of gorgeous beaches and granite headlands that make up the Bay of Fires area. The town is mostly made up of holiday homes, the two main businesses are the Bay of fires Eco boat tours and the new Hub seaside cafe restaurant- serving good coffee and exceptional wood fired pizzas!
At the Bay of Fires, great walking, bird watching, fishing, surfing and fantastic mountain biking, are right on your doorstep. Start your exploration walking around the picturesque lagoon and beach front walking track. For a longer stroll, you can walk along the pure white sand of Binalong Bay to the orange Lichen covered rocks on the headland between the bay and Jenarette beach, a stunning, well protected little corner.



Grants lagoon and the surrounding beaches are paradise for those who like to get in or on the water. The lagoon is the perfect waterway for swimming, paddle boarding or kayaking. The water is clear and warmer than the ocean, it is also far more protected from most prevailing winds. That said when a breeze does blow in it is a great place to wind surf or sail a small watercraft in a really safe environment. There's excellent surfing opportunities at Beer Barrel beach just out of St. Helens and the northern end of Binalong Bay can break well in the right conditions.

For those looking for a little more action, look no further than the brand new St. Helens mountain bike trail network. Featuring 100km plus of supreme Tasmanian forest riding and including the much anticipated 43km long Blue tier to Swimcart beach epic trail- which finishes just over a kilometer up the coast from your accommodation at The Edge! With world class riding at Derby and Weldborough only an hour drive away, Binalong Bay is a great place to base your Tassie riding holiday! We are keen riders ourselves and are happy to advise you on any riding you would like to do in the area.

For fisher folk there's ample fishing opportunities, be it fishing the lagoon for bream and flathead or heading out to the blue water on a chartered vessel.

On your way in or out of Binalong Bay, you'll pass through St. Helens, a small fishing town on Georges Bay. Lots of dining options and cafes, supermarkets and a service station as well as a chemist and other shops to peruse and stock up in. Take a drive and visit local wineries, micro breweries and the famous Pyengana cheese factory cafe. You will also discover walks to some of Tasmania's most beautiful waterfalls and rain forests in this area.

Hi we’re Claire and Abel, we live in Hobart with our two sons. We are passionate Tasmanians who love all the amazing outdoor adventures our island home has to offer! We spend as much time as can Bushwalking, kayaking and in particular-mountain biking. Which is why we are so excited to have just bought our property at Binalong Bay, an amazing place to indulge in all our favourite activities. One day we hope to retire here but in the meantime we are looking forward to sharing this beautiful part of the world with you!
