Historic Hobby House Farm - Guest Cottage

The Hobby House (Mount Pleasant Tavern) was built in 1806 as an inn and tavern for weary travelers on the journey inland from Charleston in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The guest cottage is one of the original structures built in the late 1700s. This one-of-a-kind lodging is conveniently located 15 minutes from Spartanburg, SC and 45 minutes from downtown Greenville, SC and Tryon, NC. Close to GSP international airport, BMW, and Michelin.

The space
The guest cottage is a rustic renovated space offering the amenities of a modern home, in a +200 year old structure. The cottage is ideal for a couple or young family looking to get away to a rural, historic, and rustic setting. Guest can relax in the clawfoot tub or enjoy the views from the porch. The cottage is located on an operating farm with chickens, horses, and goats. Fresh eggs from the farm are available for guests as well as an honor bar (for +21 guests) stocked with local beers on tap. Guests should understand that this is a +200 year old structure with all of the beauty and quirks that come along with that. Please feel free to contact the host if you have any additional questions about the accomodations.

Guest access
You can access the entire cottage and yard around the cottage - farm tours and plantation home tours available.

I love to host, travel, and spend time with our family and friends on our small farm in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. My many years traveling the world have given me a global perspective, but have also taught me to appreciate home. Whether it's hiking the great wall of China, horseback riding in Ireland, or sitting on the porch watching the sunset with a glass of wine I have learned to love the power of the human experience.
