Gather together for visits to IU, weddings, or group retreats, in a 154 year-old home with deep Bloomington roots. With 5 BR and a pullout queen sofa airbed, you can all be under the same roof, and with 10 different outdoor and indoor spots, you can find many ways to play and relax together or grab a moment alone.

You will love the charm and sense of place this historic home gives as you make memories here. All are welcome. Please ask me any questions you may have!

The space
From the moment you drive up you will see that this house isn't your average Bloomington Airbnb. It's history is evident beginning with the bricks, which were made and fired right in Bloomington. The history will charm you, but you will feel relaxed and comfortable in the updated interior.

The kitchen offers
* Coffee, tea, sweetener and creamer
* Toaster, microwave, gas stove, oven, dishwasher
* Plates, bowls, utensils, glasses
* Pots, pans, knives, cooking utensils, basic cooking spices

The front upstairs bedroom (Bedroom #1) offers:
* King sized bed
* TV
* Large closet with hanging rod
* Chest of drawers
* Bathroom with shower just around the corner
* Alarm clock

The middle upstairs bedroom (Bedroom #2) offers:
* Full size bed
* Access to both outdoor balconies
* Chest of drawers
* Bathroom is down the hall

The back upstairs bedroom (Bedroom #3) offers:
* Queen sized bed
* Good sized closet space with hanging rod
* Access to the south outdoor balcony
* Alarm clock
* Bathroom is down the hall

The bedroom on the main level (Bedroom #4) offers:
* Twin sized bed
* Chest of drawers
* 1/2 bath is around the corner. Full bath is up the back stairs.

The downstairs bedroom (Bedroom #5, or the Smokehouse Bedroom) offers:
* Full sized bed
* Private en suite entrance to the bathroom with shower
* The wonderful exposed brick wall hints at the fact that long ago this room was the smokehouse (don't worry - your nose would never know it!).
* Desk and chair
* The most private room, and also the warmest room in the house in the summer, so hot sleepers will not prefer this room.
* Column-style fan
* PLEASE NOTE that this bathroom does not have outlets IN the bathroom. There are outlets and a mirror in the bedroom. It's one of the many charming quirks of an old house!

The living room offers:
* 2 couches
* 1 couch opens up into a queen-sized air mattress sofa bed
* Smart TV with cable service

The dining room offers:
* Large table
* Chairs and benches which guests may arrange to suit their numbers

The game room offers:
* Several board games
* Table and chairs
* Books

The sitting room right next to the living room is a nice place to sit and read in a quiet moment.

Are you used to the convenience and fun of a smart speaker at home, or are curious to try one? This home has a Google Home Mini at your service for playing music, playing games, listening to a podcast, or asking questions about... anything! It's fun to use, or just unplug if you're traveling to... unplug :)

Outside, there is a grassy backyard, grill, carport, and ample parking in the driveway area.

PLEASE READ:
This wonderful home is, in fact, historic! It is called the Rogers Dunn house, and if you'd like to do a little reading I'm happy to share an article or two with you. Please know that, because the house is very old, the charm also comes with some quirks. The stairs are not the same uniformity that you find in modern homes. The showers and tub are small. Sometimes you'll need to find the lamp switch instead of the light switch. Doors do stick from time to time, or take an extra push to close, and the upstairs bathroom outlets are in the light sconces. Please let me know if you have any specific questions or concerns and I'll be happy to answer them or send additional pictures.

We take our cleaning very seriously, making sure the home is truly clean between every guest.
* We follow the Airbnb guidelines and checklist for cleaning and disinfecting between each guest.
* We have a 24 hour block between each stay so we have all the time we need to do it right.
* All sheets, duvet covers, pillow cases, towels, and blankets are laundered every time.
* This will mean that our hard surfaces may not look shiny because we follow manufacturer instructions for disinfecting, which includes allowing the disinfectant to air dry after being wet for the right amount of time.
* Throw pillows and blankets are also cleaned and disinfected.

We are thoughtful about the products we use to clean and maintain the house, and what impact those products have on the environment and our guests. We use recycled paper goods, sulfate-free detergents, and cruelty-free shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in larger bottles to cut down on plastic waste. The disinfectant products we use do have a scent, as we have not been able to find an unscented option.

Guest access
Guests will have exclusive access to the entire house and yard, but not the garage, which will be locked.

Bloomington, Indiana, United States

The placement of this house is so wonderful because the front of the house is public and visible, making it easy to find your first time, and the back of the house and backyard feel very private. Right next door is St. Charles Church, and 6 other churches are within 1/2 mile of the house! It's a great place to gather together for a wedding!

I am an optimist and a delight-er. I love Bloomington, Indiana, and the beautiful hills and forests of Southern Indiana. I love the fun things that happen around town and campus all year long - there's always something to look forward to! I love all the little ways that being an Airbnb guest, host, and property manager have supported my view that people are good and sharing is wonderful. My guests, my friends who own the properties I host, and my friends who help me keep them sparkling clean are examples of that every day. We work together to create something wonderful that we get to share with each other and our guests. I am incredibly grateful for this flexible, fun, challenging, and fulfilling way for us all to help support our families and each other. When I'm not thinking about how I can be a better host, I can be found volunteering for local organizations I love, doing stuff outside, reading, writing, laughing at my cats, playing with my family, knitting or sewing something, finding anything else to do so I can avoid weeding my garden, spending time with friends, and sleeping.
