Cliff Top Houses are situated in a protected nature reserve perched high on the cliffs and surrounded by forest, fynbos and ocean. These secret hideaways are for those seeking peace, tranquility and that special magic. “The Bee’s Knees” is our spectacular newest secret escape sleeping 4 adults. Situated directly on the cliff edge, enjoy magnificent ocean views, waves crashing on the rocks below and whales so close you can touch them.
The space
Slide open the glass doors from the living room to the sea facing deck and enjoy endless views with whales, dolphin and seals passing by. The dining room leads onto the Fynbos deck with flowers of pink, lavender, yellow and orange. If you are lucky, you might glimpse a bushbuck passing by.
The main bedrooms with glass doors opening onto spectacular views of the ocean, takes your breath away. Watch whales from the romantic bath big enough for two in the luxurious bathroom en suite.
The villa is fully equipped with quality furnishings, appliances and crisp cotton white linen - everything you need to make you feel pampered and comfortable. The spaces have been created for peace, reflection and conversation. Play games, bird watch, do a puzzle, read or simply gaze at the view - there is no television to spoil the atmosphere.
Guest access
The entire house and decks are private and for your personal use
Other things to note
As this is a nature reserve no pets are allowed. We ask guests to respect the marvellous peace and quiet and do not play loud music or have parties.

Ballots Bay, Western Cape, South Africa
Cliff Top Houses are in a protected nature reserve along the cliffs near Victoria Bay. Zebra, springbuck and ostrich roam the plains along the top of the cliffs and bushbuck, bush-pig and porcupine forage in the forested gorges. At night, you might see owls and the highly secretive Caracal (wild cat) hunting for small rodents.
Our nature reserve is a bird watcher's heaven with at least 35 species of bird that have been identified, many of them rare and endemic to the Southern Cape. It is home to sea, forest and fynbos birds making it unusually varied and prolific.
The nature reserve abounds with hiking trails, some gentle and some steep. The ‘Fynbos trail’ winds through fynbos flower species seen nowhere else in the world. The ‘Whale trail’ takes you along rugged cliffs and up and down steep gorges and the “Magic Forest trail” winds through forest and up to the plains. The rocks around Ballots Bay are a fisherman’s paradise and the pebbly beach is perfect for foraging and exploring or paddling in the river as it meets the sea.

I am a television producer / director and my husband Henry is an architect with a passion for heritage. A while ago we left the city to live on the coast in a timber and glass house overlooking the sea. Although we love the energy of the city, we are happiest in nature and wide open spaces. We spend 3 months of each year sailing in the Greek Islands where we have recently bought a small stone farmhouse. We love traveling and exploring "off the beaten track" places. We make friends easily and enjoy exchanging view and ideas.
