200 metres and you're at one of the best beaches in Australia. The Merewether Ocean Baths beckon those with small children or those who wish to do a few laps. With the Beaches Hotel and The Merewether Surf House across the road, you couldn't ask for a better location for a getaway. Within easy distance to Darby Street, The Junction and the Supercar track, Life's a Merewether Beach!

The space
This three-bedroom property has all the amenities required for a comfortable stay for the family, a group of friends or singles. Two bedrooms and the main bathroom with separate toilet are located downstairs as well as the laundry with direct access to the garage. A porta cot and highchair are available if required.

Walk up the internal stairway to the main living area, kitchen, dining, and the large main bedroom with an ensuite and separate toilet. Off the bedroom is also a study with a desk and wardrobes for those who have a longer stay. There is a separate toilet on this level so is very convenient.

The kitchen is fully stocked with appliances in case you want to cook up a storm.

After a day at the beach relax on the balcony with a glass of your favorite beverage be it a coffee, tea, a fragrant Hunter Valley wine or a boutique beer from Port Stephens.

Make sure to connect to the internet so that you can stay in touch with your friends and family or even continue with your business dealings. Turn on the TV so you don't miss those vital episodes of your favorite shows.

Have a long hot shower or relax in the bath before having a nap. Dinner choices are extensive being within easy walking distance to The Junction or catch a taxi/uber to Darby Street (about a half hour walk).

Through the day, take a leisurely walk to Merewether Beach and follow the path to The Newcastle Memorial Walk. From this vantage point, take your binoculars to spot the whales during their migration season from June to November. On any Sunday, walk a bit further around to Nobby's to visit the Lighthouse or walk along the breakwater to watch how the tugs and the pilot (look for the helicopter) maneuver these huge tankers through the harbor to their birthing spot. It's almost like you could touch them.

Walk to Dixon Park Beach and take a picnic. The playground is fantastic and great if you have a ball or Frisbee with lots of green spaces.

Enjoy your stay!

Where you’ll be

Merewether, New South Wales, Australia

Merewether has quickly become one of the (if not the) most sought-after suburbs in the entire Hunter region, with young families, professionals and avid surfers flocking from near and far to get a slice of the sand-fuelled action. Famed not only for its pristine, surf-ready beaches, Merewether’s varied landscapes boast everything from serene green parklands and secluded beaches to lush rainforests with trickling waterfalls, and all within 5km of Newcastle’s buzzing CBD.

Streets are scattered with a mix of quaint old miner’s cottages and chic contemporary abodes – many of which come with enviable views of the ocean – whilst most of the local boutiques, bars and restaurants can be found at The Junction and Glebe Road quarter, in Merewether’s north.

A surfer’s paradise with great schools, beautiful beaches, stunning landscapes and convenient access to Newcastle’s CBD, Merewether’s chic suburbia is one to watch for anyone venturing outside the city, be it Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane or Newcastle.

* Merewether Beach *
Merewether Beach, home of international surfing competition, Surfest, the reserve stretches from Dixon Park in the north to Burwood Beach in the south - with superb views in all directions.

Enjoy a coffee at a beachside cafe and watch as locals walk their dogs, parents juggle caffeine and kids with sandy hair, and the surfers roll-up by the dozen.

Walk a bit further down the beach promenade and you'll find Merewether Ocean Baths, the largest Ocean Baths complex in the Southern Hemisphere.

Hi, BnBCare is a small family run local business, that manages properties on Airbnb.

The Newcastle, Hunter Valley and surrounding areas are growing and thriving but still have a regional flavour. We've seen the region change and grow during our lifetime however it is still easy to get around - as we always say, there are about 6 different routes you can take to travel from one part to another. We love using the backstreets though because it is here that you can find a treasure.

We hope you enjoy the local areas as much as we do.
