This family-run B&B is in a glorious location with views across the Coquet Valley to the majestic Simonside Hills beyond. Situated at the end of a private lane at the western edge of the village of Thropton, this 200 year old former farmhouse, once owned by Lord Armstrong as part of his Cragside estate, offers you the best in Northumbrian hospitality, a relaxed atmosphere and a location from which to enjoy the beauty and tranquility of Coquetdale and the nearby Northumberland National Park.

The space
We offer guests a free, off-road car park with capacity for 8 cars. Salmon and Sea Trout fishing is available on the River Coquet within 1 mile from us. Day tickets available from Northumbrian Anglers Federation. Free overnight lock up bike storage for guests.

Guest access
The garden has stunning views and is a great, quiet space to sit and relax after a hard day’s sightseeing. Watch buzzards soar and herons glide and enjoy all the garden birds, song thrush, blackbird, goldfinch, wren, blue tits and lots more. If the evening turns chilly, make yourself at home in the guests’ lounge with its log burning stove. A real ‘chill out’ space.
