Swali house was built around 25 years ago by the owner's parents on a block of virgin coastal land after they'd succeeded in finding somewhere both secluded and tranquil. Msambweni is a remote unspoilt fishing town with few tourists, on the south coast near the Tanzanian border. The house was recently modernized and renovated extensively, adding a fresh water pool and an additional cottage containing the 5th bedroom - all with en-suite bathrooms. The house now sleeps 10 very comfortably.

The space
The house was built in a Swahili coast style with high ceilings and very open seating areas. All bedrooms are en-suite and each has its own balcony where tea is served in the mornings. The house is able to sleep 10 comfortably in beds however extra beds can be made up in the Baraza room for an additional cost and if requirements are met (Please inquire for additional information).

The house comes with 3 members of staff including an excellent cook whose speciality is seafood dishes. Seafood can be ordered from the local fishermen by the cook and is generally subject to what is caught that day.

Location

Msambweni, Kenya

Swali Beach House is two kilometres south of Msambweni, South Coast, Kenya. It is a beautiful and discreet house located just a few meters from the beach, fringed with coconut palms.
The house is on Msambweni beachfront which is a working beach where local people fish from their dhows and dugout canoes and harvest seafood from the reef on foot. There is always something of interest to gaze at as you sit on the veranda looking out. At low tide you can walk along the beach or wander on the reef. At high tide there is swimming and body surfing. Swali is situated in 7.5 acres filled with indigenous trees alive with native birds, coconut palms with coconuts ready to harvest and other flora and fauna.

Msambweni has 3 reefs that run parallel to the beach - the first is connected to the beach and is exposed at low tide, the following 2 are at varying distances from the beach. All 3 reefs provide excellent opportunities for snorkelling and free diving - we can give you the number of Captain Ali (a renowned conservationist in the area), who will be more than happy to take you out on his ngalawa to show you the best spots.
