The Old Vicarage B&B is a large Victorian Gothic house situated in the peaceful, leafy Tweedmouth Conservation area, a short walk from the centre of Berwick, riverside and local beach. The St Bartholomew studio is a SELF CATERING room with a well equipped kitchenette stocked with fresh baked bread, eggs butter and milk (A SERVED BREAKFAST IS NOT PROVIDED). The studio comes with a sumptuous king size bed and a luxurious bathroom with shower temple.

The space
The room and ensuite boast original period features, furnished in a traditional Victorian style, but with modern comfort.
The large ensuite bathroom is fitted with modern, but with fixtures and fittings befitting of the classical Victorian period. The beautiful Gothic arched stone windows overlook the leafy and tranquil Church of St Bartholomew, with glimpses of the river and the town of Berwick.

Guests can relax in the drawing room or pass the time with some reading material, to perhaps help you plan your time during your stay.

The garden, whilst currently being redesigned, still provides the opportunity to relax and enjoy a piece of tranquility of this small leafy neighbourhood, just off the river Tweed.

A large Gothic Victorian house in an historic town, the Old Vicarage B&B reflects the cultural heritage of the area and its natural beauty, to provide you with a truly luxurious and memorable experience.

Guest access
B&B guests have access to the garden, the guest lounge and dining room and en-suite bedroom. We have a car space for unloading outside the property only and parking on the quiet street.

Other things to note
The studio is self catering, no served breakfast provided. However, we do provide some breakfast basics including bread, cereal, fresh butter, milk and eggs, including teas and coffee.

Location

Tweedmouth, England, United Kingdom

Berwick-upon-Tweed sits at the most northerly tip of Northumberland, just 3 miles from the Scottish Border. A coastal town with four sandy beaches and beautiful riverside walks, Berwick is perfectly situated for a relaxing break and a haven for walkers and cyclists.

This peaceful town is a far cry from Berwick's turbulent past; captured or sacked 13 times before finally falling into English hands in 1482, Berwick’s great Elizabethan walls were built to keep invading Scots from entering the town. Walk the complete circuit, taking in spectacular views across the River Tweed estuary and Berwick’s three bridges, including the iconic Royal Border Bridge, built by Robert Stevenson and one of the finest bridges of its kind in the world.
Explore Berwick's history by visiting museums in Berwick Barracks and The Main Guard. Take a tour of the town’s old courtroom, jail lockups and notorious ‘drunk’s cell’ in the upper floors of Berwick Town Hall.

Families can also enjoy beaches, a splash-park, soft play, creative pottery centre and the swimming pool and leisure centre as well as kids holiday activities in Berwick Museum and Berwick Parks.

Artist L.S. Lowry was a regular visitor to Berwick and today you can walk in his footsteps on The Lowry Trail. Worldwide bestselling novelist Rachel Joyce captures the imagination with her latest book, The Love Song of Miss Queenie Hennessy set in Berwick-upon-Tweed.

Be Inspired by exhibitions in the town's fantastic galleries; The Granary Gallery, Gymnasium Gallery and Watchtower Gallery. Berwick has annual Film, Book, Music, Seaside, Walking and Food & Beer Festivals… to mention but a few, and The Maltings Theatre & Cinema has an excellent and varied programme of entertainment through the year.

Berwick’s close ties with Scotland remain today with Berwick’s football team being the only side in England to play in the Scottish league, as seen on Robson Green's Tales from Northumberland.

With its own East Coast Mainline railway station as well as being handily close to the A1, Berwick is an easy-to-reach destination.
