Our beautiful loft stands on the top floor of a Neo-Classical building at the heart of hip artistic Vedado, within steps of trendy restaurants, entertainment nightspots, Hotel Nacional, Malecón, and 5-min drive to Old Havana. Designed around a contemporary interpretation of colonial architecture, the 5m-high open space features mezzanine levels stretching from one side of the apt to the other, and large rooftop terraces with dining/lounging areas offering breathtaking views of Havana.

The space
Our colonial loft is situated on a quiet tree-lined street in a residential area of Vedado (the downtown sector of Havana and one the city’s most vibrant and beautiful neighbourhoods). The apt has 3 bedrooms where we can accommodate up to 6 guests. The apartment itself is a symbol of the very place you are visiting: the original Carrara marble floors and wood doors are there, but all the bathrooms are beautifully updated and modern. Each bedroom has plenty of space, bedside tables and lamps, and doors to close and lock. The beds are welcoming and comfortable (2 kings, 1 queen), linens and towels are all provided, and each room has its own AC. With a modern spacious kitchen fully equipped with everything you need, two very spacious terraces for smoking cigars under the night sky, and lots of tropical house plants.

When you arrive at the house, you will find people whose main concern is to make you feel at home. We will greet you at the curb, help you carry bags, greet you with mojitos and Cuban appetizers. We will set you up with a local phone should you have emergencies, and (if you wish) be there in the morning before you even wake up to make coffee and breakfast.

Vedado, with its sprawling layout, sumptuous mansions, and sense of 1950s middle-class Havana arrested, couldn’t be more different from Habana Vieja or Centro Habana.

Most people consider Vedado to be the downtown sector of Havana. It’s bordered by the Havana Malecon (seawall) which is a fantastic night spot where habaneros gather almost every night to party. The main street running east to west is Calle 23, also known as "La Rampa". Villa Vera is just two blocks from Malecon and three blocks from La Rampa.

If you really want to get to know Cuban culture, without leaving Havana, your best bet is to experience Vedado. It’s a more modern and affluent neighborhood, but still packed with bars, restaurants, music venues and, best of all, regular Cubans. There are hundreds of fun things to do in Vedado, and I will list some of my top favourite ones below.

- Head to the Malecón. It’s where we hang out the most. On this five-mile stretch of seawall along the Havana coast, you'll see people eating, drinking, playing music, and people-watching to pass the time with family and friends.
Just grab a beer and start chatting!

- Sip a mojito and enjoy the ocean view from the gardens of the Hotel Nacional, where Frank Sinatra sang to Lucky Luciano during the Christmas of 1946. Undoubtedly, the best ocean view in Havana

- Walk along 23rd street (La Rampa)

- Sit and relax watching a sunset from the Malecón

- Visit the Lennon Park and sit with John Lennon

- Enjoy a delicious cuban meal at a Paladar. Many paladares in Vedado are situated in colonial mansions with lovely breezy porches.

- Go up on the roof. There is nothing better than sipping on a cuban cocktail or local beer at sunset from above the cityscapes. The best city view is from bar La Torre on the top floor of the FOCSA tower, the tallest building in Havana.

- Spend a jazz night listening to Roberto Fonseca at La Zorra y El Cuervo. Located on La Rampa, this is the meeting point for many of the island’s most talented musicians.

- Get in the backseat of a classic car. You can take a 30-minute to an hour tour, and the driver will typically ask you what you’d like to see. A great place to hop in one of these classic cars is in front of The Hotel Nacional, where like a bag of Skittles, you can pick any colour car you want.
