The Gregan Retreat's located on a farm called Lisdillon Estate. The house comfortably fits two and overlooks the vineyard and Lisdillon Rivulet which flows down to Lisdillon's private beach, only a five minute stroll away.

The space

The house has a large balcony to relax and enjoy the view of the vineyard and Lisdillon Rivulet. It has a fireplace to keep you toasty warm through those winter nights (however as we don't tend to do as many firewood runs in summer there is a chance there will be no firewood in that season). We offer a relaxed stay on a farm. We have a private beach which is so untouched that many rare birds nest there. We also have a private river which is brimming with a variety of fish if you enjoy fishing (strictly catch and release). Bring your kayaks and float down the rivulet to the beach.

If you have a boat you can take it out to the sea and fish in front of our property (a list of species you can catch is available below).

The house comfortably fits two people. It has a kitchen/living room, bathroom and separate bedroom with queensized bed.

The property is situated 21 kilometres outside of the nearest town of Swansea, and an hour and a half from Hobart. Swansea and its surroundings have some well-known gourmet restaurants, the closest of which, Piermont, is only a ten minute drive away if guests wish to indulge themselves.

It is a fifty minute drive to Coles Bay, and the world famous Freycinet National Park. Several vineyards set amidst the stunning scenery of the east coast of Tasmania, are within easy driving distance. Taste the high quality wine of Milton and Springvale at their cellar doors.

Perfect for a relaxed weekend away, and you may even get to try some of Lisdillon's delicious pinot noir.

For the fishermen guests, the sea out the front of our property offers:
- bay flathead
- king flathead
- cod
- trumpeter
- trevally
- salmon
- perch
- squid
- crayfish

The Lisdillon Rivulet has:
- bream
- oysters
- trevally mullet
- Australian salmon
- brown trout
- native galaxia
-occasionally flathead
- eels
- grayling, aka cucumber herring

Guest access

- private river with plenty of fish to catch (and release)
- private beach
- if you have a boat you can take it out to sea in front of our property

Other things to note

Though we drink the water, we do advise guests to bring their own drinking water. As we are 21 km from the nearest town, guests are advised to bring their groceries with them.

A totally relaxing retreat hidden away from everything, but then also close enough to Freycinet, Maria Island (including views to both from Lisdillon's own beach) and the regions fantastic vineyards to enjoy them to the fullest during our stay. The kitchen was well fitted out to easily allow us to be self-sufficient and not have to leave for days (after a quick shopping trip) and the supply of books, music and games make it easy not to leave the cottage. The bed was wonderfully comfortable, the bathroom modern and the wood heater enough to warm the cottage overnight. Waking up in the mornings to the birds and the sunrise over the Freycinet will stay in my memory for a long time...

This accomodation was OK. It has a nice view from the deck but has a bunch of shipping containers siting on the other side of the cottage. The road into the property is not paved and was a bit tricky for our hire car. It is pretty spartan and fairly small but if you are looking for a little cottage with a nice fire then it would suit you. The place was pretty quiet and the beach was nice.

This refurbished cottage is simple and good - a very down to the estuary, with Freycinet looming in the background. This is a working farm, so there will be farming activity around. The bed is comfortable and good equipment for cooking. There is a lovely front verandah for warmer evenings.

Rural & coastal setting sensational. Enjoyed the privacy of our snug cottage and having the gorgeous beach to ourselves. Glorious views to islands and Freycinet NP and Schouten Is. Comfy bed, ambiance of a warm glowing fire.

The accommodation provided adequate comfort. The beach is lovely and you can see the river from the balcony.
