Historic entirely self contained cosy accommodation that is Covid 19 free set in some of England's most beautiful countryside, located at the end of a picturesque lane, surrounded by breathtaking views and walks. The loft is within a 60 minute drive of London and is a lovely, generous space for relaxing, working or to explore the surrounding countryside. Newbury 7 miles, Reading 12 miles and Hungerford 16 miles. Stride out directly into beautiful unspoilt countryside...

The space
An exquisite, superbly appointed self contained Coachman's Loft in a 17C. precinct.

Totally independent of the historic main house, the loft provides very modern comfort in a recently refurbished space. A sparkling bathroom with power shower and heated towel rail, and a convenient mini kitchen opens onto a beautiful space with a spectacularly comfortable queen size bed, generous sofa and lovely period accessories with original art work.

The kitchen has a fridge, kettle, toaster, two ring hob and a microwave oven. It is fully equipped with cutlery, crockery, pans, food processor and coffee cafetières.

The property is cleaned and sanitised to Airbnb’s Covid 19 recommended standards to ensure guests and hosts safety and peace of mind before and after each stay.

Whilst very rural, there is plenty to do. Beautiful bracing walks through wild woodlands immediately from the doorstep. Wild flowers, wildlife and fresh air.

Within a three mile radius, we are served by three special coffee shops The Pantry, The Blackbird and the Bucklebury Farm Park serving breakfast, light lunches, tea and coffee. There are several pubs with good food including the renowned Pot Kiln Pub at Frilsham (approx 20 minute walk) through the woods specialising in excellent game cuisine. Within a 45 minute walk are pubs, The Blade Bone at Chapel Row, The Boot & The Bull, both in Stanford Dingley, The Royal Oak at Yattendon all serving good food.

For specialist beer enthusiasts the West Berkshire Brewery Tap Room is in easy walking distance serving amongst other brews, the renowned Good Old Boy and serving hearty food. Further a field with great reputation there is The Woodspeen restaurant (Michelin Star), The Wellington Arms and The renowned Vineyard.

The wonderful Watermill Theatre is close by, plus The Corn Exchange for film, music, drama, dance and more in Newbury. Newbury Racecourse is a great day out with excellent facilities.

Within half an hour you can be on the Ridgeway for extensive walks. Closer by is the Kennet and Avon canal for walkers too. Roman remains at Silchester and The River Thames is about 15 minutes away by car at Pangbourne, and further a field at Streatley, where there is an excellent cafe, Pierponts and the new Coppa Club at the Swan on the river.

NT Basildon Park sits in between. Blenheim Palace is under an hour away, as is Windsor Castle and Eton. Hungerford for antique hunters is 25 minutes away, with several good independent clothing boutiques and individual shops to explore.

Local churches include St Mary's, Bucklebury and Catholic services at Douai Abbey, Upper Woolhampton. Highclere is close by (25 mins) as is the Sandham Memorial Chapel, where you can see the stunning Stanley Spencer murals. Englefield Gardens are open to visitors every Monday throughout the year from 10.00am – 6.00pm April to October and 10.00am – 4.00pm November to March.

There is also an excellent farm shop, Cobbs at Englefield on the A340 with a good coffee shop.
