Extra spacious

Guests love this home’s spaciousness for a comfortable stay.
The bake house is a unique historical building circa 1880 that has been converted into contemporary
accomodation. It is part of a precinct of three buildings, all relating the same function of supporting "Watson's" Bakery in the shop facing Macquarie street (now a funky homewares shop). You get to enjoy a three bedroom house. Three bedrooms upstairs with a bathroom and toilet, living kitchen, dining and laundry downstairs. You have your own private courtyard with a picnic setting.

The space
Open plan living with modern conveniences such as wifi, smart TV and bluetooth speakers - it is a relaxing and homely space to stay. Beautiful original bakery ceiling, landscaped courtyard, spacious kitchen/living and dining makes this place an easy getaway for friends, couples or families. Beautiful queen beds with comfortable mattresses and luxurious linen are a delight. Breakfast provisions are provided.

The history of this place is interesting.
Bread was baked for the local South Hobart community from this site. Flour chutes still remain in situ. There is still evidence of the wooden fire smoke and spot fires in the oregan beams from the bakery ovens.
Gantry serviced the upper floor. With the main bedroom access, horse drawn carriages pulled up directly below. The stables behind are used as an art studio by myself.

Neighbourhood highlights

South Hobart is a vibrant leafy village suburb. The streets are lined with beautiful historic houses and gardens and has a friendly community feel about it. Local residents interact a great deal with the scenic rivulet track which is an easy walk or ride into the CBD. Mt Wellington is a hive of activity with mountain bike riders, bushwalkers and nature enthusiasts frequenting it.
The bakehouse is conveniently located with 'The Salad Bowl' a few minutes walk away - it is an exquisite supermarket and deli packed with fresh produce and delicious treats which I personally rely on compared with going to the larger supermarkets because the prices are good. There are a number of cafe's, a post office, hairdresser, antique shop, pub, playground etc all within 500m from the house.
Iconic sites are close by with the Cascade brewery and The Female Factory.

No events or parties are allowed at the property.

If you have a wish to use the property as a wedding space. Please communicate that with me, so we can negotiate what is fair.

My work: art teacher
Fun fact: I’ve meditated for months in hermitages
I am from Tasmania and am currently raising a young family of energetic children on my own. We live in Hobart and i spend my time running the accomodations you see here, painting, meditating and listening to excellent music. I am also a passionate art teacher. Prior to this, I travelled a great deal to India and Nepal studying and meditating. I am a great lover of gardening and generally any activity that promotes world peace. I also love bushwalking and being in nature.
