A cosy 18th century cottage tucked away in the heart of Whitby’s old town, Dolphin Cottage is the perfect peaceful getaway with restaurants, shops, cafés & pubs just moments away.

Ideal for couples or families, sleeping four in one double bed and bunk beds - dogs are welcome too.

The space
Located on the ground floor, is a well equipped kitchen that contains everything you will need to self-cater your stay at Dolphin Cottage and dine in comfort.

There is a full size oven and hob and a washer dryer is provided for your convenience. A high chair is also available.

The living room is located on the first floor. The brick feature wall, log effect electric fire and wooden flooring give this room a warm and cosy atmosphere throughout the year.

Two leather sofas and an armchair allow plenty of space to spread out and relax in comfort.

With a bluetooth iPod dock/radio, free WiFi, FreeSat and OnDemand TV channels and a mobile phone charging station, board games and books, there is plenty to keep you entertained.

The bedrooms are on the second floor of the property and both enjoy rooftop views across old Whitby. Please note that the stairs up to this floor are fairly steep and narrow in parts.

The cosy double room offers a double bed, built-in wardrobes, wooden floors and a traditional black beam ceiling.

In the second bedroom are bunk beds with individual cool-touch reading lights, making it a perfect resting place for kids.

The main bathroom in the property is on the ground floor, located off the kitchen and has a bath with shower over, toilet and basin.

For your convenience, there is also a toilet and wash basin on the same floor as the bedrooms.

A travel cot can also be provided for your stay (own bedding required) and this can be set up in the second bedroom or on the landing.

Other things to note
Dolphin Cottage is located in the heart of Whitby old town and due to its location, it does mean that parking nearby is very limited. We suggest you drop your luggage (and someone to watch it!) at the main road and park in a nearby car park.

There are car parks on Langbourne Road which is a 10-15 minute flat walk but may take longer as the route goes around the harbour and passes a few of Whitby’s local pubs!

This Visit Whitby website has useful details of the car parks and charges. It also details where you can make use of the scratch card parking system (scratch cards are provided for you to use during your stay).

Please note that there is no garden or patio area at the cottage.

North Yorkshire, England, United Kingdom

Whitby is famous for many things. It's a traditional seaside town with sandy beaches, fantastic fish and chips, history and culture and vampires and goths.

With Blue Flag beaches and many attractions, including the world-famous steam North Yorkshire Moors Railway, Whitby is the perfect base for a family holiday. But it doesn’t end there. Whitby wallows in history, including fishing, the jet industry, Captain Cook (who was born nearby, and whose famous ship the Endeavour was Whitby-built) and whaling. And its literary connections – Bram Stoker’s famous Dracula features the town, with the vampire first coming ashore here from Transylvania in the guise of a black dog – have inspired the world famous Goth Festival, which now takes place twice a year, in the spring and around Hallowe’en.

Dolphin Cottage is located in the old town and is conveniently located for getting around all that Whitby has to offer. A few minutes walk takes you to Tate Beach, the bottom of the Abbey's 199 Steps and a vast array of small shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants.

Hi, we're Izzy and John. We live in West Yorkshire, close to Leeds and Bradford and the moors, with our two children. We like to explore new places and have used airBnB for a few years now to find places to stay. We love to get to Whitby as much as we can and hope that you will enjoy it there as much as we do.
