Escape to one of our two pet-friendly cottages in the heart of the Otways. Surrounded by National Park, the Nature Lodge offers a unique farm-stay experience with friendly animals to hand-feed, forest views and a cosy wood fire. Modern comforts include a barista-style coffee machine and fast Starlink internet. Explore nearby waterfalls, spot platypus at Lake Elizabeth, discover Forrest and its famous mountain bike trails, or enjoy the beaches of Apollo Bay and the Great Ocean Road.
The space
The Nature Lodge is a cosy and comfortable open plan cabin designed for families, couples and their four-legged companions. Nestled amongst native forest, surrounded by the beauty of the Great Otway National Park, The Nature Lodge offers an escape where birdlife and fresh mountain air are abundant.
The lodge features two spacious open-plan queen bedrooms upstairs, along with a separate downstairs queen bedroom, offering a comfortable layout for couples, families and friends travelling together. After a day exploring the Otways, sink into premium bedding and enjoy the cosy comfort of electric blankets during the cooler months.
The fully equipped kitchen has everything you need to prepare meals during your stay, including a gas oven, full-sized fridge and freezer, microwave and barista-style coffee machine. If you don’t wish to switch off from the world, The Nature Lodge has Starlink internet allowing you to stay connected while enjoying the tranquillity of nature.
The open-plan living area is designed for relaxing together, with a cosy wood fire, comfortable lounge, dining space, TV, PS4 to access your favourite streaming services, and a selection of board games, puzzles and books to keep guests of all ages entertained.
Step outside onto the covered terrace and enjoy a BBQ while taking in views across the farm and surrounding forest.
Pets are warmly welcomed both inside and outside the lodge. The lodge has its own private, fully fenced yard, providing a secure space for children and dogs to play and relax.
Set on 32 acres in the heart of the Otways, Top of the Otways is home to sheep, seasonal lambs, goats and chickens, many of which guests are welcome to meet and hand-feed. Native birds and wildlife are frequent visitors, and several walking trails on the property lead down to our beautiful creek in the valley below.
Perfectly positioned between Forrest and Apollo Bay, the lodge is an ideal base for exploring waterfalls, rainforest walks, mountain bike trails and the many natural attractions of the Otways. Spot platypus at nearby Lake Elizabeth, discover the iconic Great Ocean Road, or simply spend your days relaxing by the fire, enjoying a board game with family and friends, and soaking up the peace and beauty of nature.
Guest access
Guests have exclusive access to the entire Nature Lodge, including the private fully fenced yard, covered patio, BBQ area and surrounding outdoor spaces immediately adjacent to the lodge.
During your stay, you’re welcome to explore much of our 32-acre farm, including the walking trails that lead down to the creek in the valley below. You’re also welcome to meet and hand-feed our friendly farm animals, including sheep, goats and chickens.
The property is home to two separate guest accommodations, Nature Lodge and The Country Cottage (airbnb.com.au/h/top-of-the-otways-country-cottage), which are located a comfortable distance apart to provide privacy for all guests. Each accommodation has its own dedicated outdoor areas and parking.
A communal guest laundry is available on request. Please contact us during your stay and we’ll happily show you where it is and how everything works.
As this is a working farm and our family home, some sheds, paddocks and operational areas are reserved for private use. We simply ask guests to respect any signed areas and enjoy the rest of the property responsibly.
Other things to note
We acknowledge the Gadubanud People of Eastern Maar Nation as the Traditional Owners and custodians of the land on which we live. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging. We acknowledge that sovereignty has never been ceded.
