The space
The Baskerville apartment, finely furnished with light and soft colors, is equipped, like all our apartments, with every comfort such as a memory foam mattress, equipped kitchen, espresso machine, dishes and pots suitable for the induction hob, air conditioning/heat pump, unlimited wifi, and smart TV.

Guest access
Our guests will have exclusive use of the apartment but will be able to enjoy all the amenities of Casa VerbaVolant.
Let's start from the beginning, that is, from the 18th-century building in which it stands: five floors in Via Landolina, a stone's throw from Piazza Duomo. Inside, there are apartments, rooms, a library, an exhibition area and one for cultural activities. In short, a multifunctional space, between ancient and modern, with a single common denominator: literature.
The furniture is also themed, always with an eye to the past and one to the present. The library provides a wide selection of novels and books for young and old, while the meeting room is a space also open to the city that hosts workshops, presentations and events.
We will always be Fausta and Elio to welcome you into our little piece of the world and to share with you our love for books: a love that blossomed years ago, reinvigorated day by day with our publications, and that now flourishes further with this new project, closely linked to the history and culture of Syracuse and Ortigia: we are eager to make you discover their wonders and to make you feel, together with us... at Home.
No reception, no self check-in

Other things to note
In the building, there is a breakfast room with space for mini cooking classes and show cooking. If you're interested in adding breakfast to your reservation, ask us for more information.
You'll find a small corner shop with our books and items made exclusively for us.

Neighbourhood highlights

The apartment is located on the third floor of an ancient palace in the heart of the historic center of Ortigia, a small island with a thousand-year history.
The owners, Fausta and Elio, Illustrated Albi publishers, will welcome you into their world made up of books, typewriters, and extreme attention to detail.
The palace is located in front of the baroque church of the Collegio dei Gesuiti, a few meters from Piazza Duomo, considered one of the most beautiful squares in Italy.
Everything is at your fingertips: great restaurants, cafes and ice cream shops; small craft shops and the famous market where you can shop and enjoy typical products.
Just step out of the old iron gate to find yourself surrounded by unique colors, scents, and flavors. What if you want to cool off with a dip? In a few minutes you will arrive, on foot, to the small beach of Calarossa or the rocks of Forte Vigliena.
Let yourself be guided by the tips that Fausta and Elio will provide you with during check-in or get lost in the alleys and the most evocative corners that our island will give you.

My work: Editors at VerbaVolant Edizioni
Speaks English
Hello! We are Elio and Fausta and we are publishers. Our publishing house, the VerbaVolant editions, publishes illustrated books, for children and beyond, with an attentive eye the choice of formats and paper. We created the Books from Parati®, illustrated stories to read and at the end to hang as paintings; you will find them scattered around the structure! We have decided to expand the VerbaVolant philosophy and welcome you into our little corner of the world to share with you our love for books: a love that blossomed years ago, reinvigorated day by day through our publications, and which is now flourishing even further with this new project. We are deeply connected to the history and culture of Syracuse and Ortigia: we can't wait to help you discover their wonders and make you feel, together with us… at home.
