Set in a secluded field with mountain views, Tiny Freya is a peaceful delight for those seeking a respite from their busy everyday lives.
The tiny house is an off-grid eco experience with all the creature comforts you need, just 10-20 minutes to most major attractions and the city centre.
Please note this is a no pets property.
The space
Tiny Freya is cute and cosy, but surprisingly spacious. There are two lofts: one with a very comfortable QS bed, the other with a single.
The bathroom has a composting toilet that flushes, a shower and vanity. Shampoo, conditioner and body wash are all included.
The kitchen is fully equipped with an oven, gas hot plates, microwave, fridge with freezer, kettle, toaster and pod coffee maker (pods included). There is gas heating, a ceiling fan, and reverse cycle air conditioning. Please note, however, that the aircon can be used on a limited basis (3-4 hours a day) or it will lead to a loss of power to the tiny house.
We don’t provide wifi — we encourage you to disconnect and enjoy the peace and quiet — but mobile connectivity is no problem at all.
Outside the sunny deck is the perfect spot to enjoy a coffee in the morning. We provide a BBQ and picnic table for outdoor dining, and our guests love the fire pit with comfy lounge to watch sunsets over the surrounding hills, and to toast marshmallows under the stars.
The MTB flow trail is accessible directly from your door — it’s just a 120m ride on a linking track to the start of “Ruby’s Run”.
Guest access
You’ll have Tiny Freya and her surrounds all to yourself— as well as the MTB flow trail, nearby paddocks and nature reserve. There are kangaroos, parrots, echidnas, rabbits and wedge-tailed eagles as your neighbours here.
Regarding property access, please be aware that Tiny Freya is on a dirt road that can get slippery and boggy when wet. It’s always manageable though — we see to that.
Other things to note
The off-grid experience
Off-grid living requires a simpler, less connected way of being. It also means that sometimes essential services (such as power and water) stop working. This is particularly likely when appliances are on, so please be very thoughtful about plugging in lots of things, especially all at once.
The aircon needs to be used sparingly, for no more than 3-4 hours per day, or it will lead to a loss of power to the tiny house. There is a ceiling fan and cross breezes to keep you cool; and a gas heater to warm you up.
We’ll make every attempt to ensure that all equipment is in working order while you’re staying, and we’ll provide you with information on how to troubleshoot systems in case of problems arising. We are also available to help with unforeseen issues.
Toilet use
The Tiny House has a composting toilet, and it’s essential that you follow the instructions provided — strictly no sanitary items or other products (other than toilet paper) are to be flushed. Other than that it’s essentially a normal toilet with a foot flush mechanism.
MTB Flow Trail
“Ruby’s Run” is a private, professionally built flow trail exclusively for guest use (and our family).
A waiver is required if you wish to ride the MTB trail — just sign and send a photo before you jump on your bike.
Campfires
Campfires are a treat that we offer almost year-round — weather and fire regulations permitting, of course. We provide everything you need to have a campfire: kindling, firewood, and firelighters. Just remember to pack the marshmallows!
Please keep in mind the following rules:
All campfires must be contained within the designated fire pit area and you are responsible for complying with local fire regulations and general safety considerations (including, amongst other things, observing total fire bans). If it is windy, guests must not light a fire under any circumstances. Fires must be extinguished after use.
When campfires are permitted, you must do everything you can to ensure the safe enjoyment of the campfire, and that you do not create any risks to property, people and animals.
We reserve the right to ban campfires at any time. Any guest who lights a fire during either a fire ban period, or after they have been instructed not to, may be removed from the property and will not be refunded any portion of their stay.
Animals and pets
Tiny Freya is a no pets property. There is abundant wildlife including kangaroos, parrots, rabbits — and you may even spot an echidna. Please be aware that sheep and our kelpie dog named Sadie also live on the farm. Sadie is very friendly, but we appreciate that not everyone is comfortable with unfamiliar dogs. She generally leaves guests well alone but occasionally comes to visit. Please let us know if she does and we will collect her straight away. If you’re uncomfortable with dogs, let us know and we’ll be sure to keep her contained.
