The Owl Pen Cottage can be found on the grounds of Chapel House, boasting 9 acres of manicured gardens.
The beds in the cottage come fitted with electric blankets.
The cosy lounge room has a wood burning fire plus gas heating.
The bathroom has a relaxing spa bath, and the kitchen comes fully equipped.
There is a lovely sun room overlooking the garden.
In the warmer months there is an outdoor swimming pool for you to use.
We also have a pontoon situated over Goose Lake for you to use.

The space
Garden lovers, artists and photographers will be inspired by this picturesque setting.
As you explore the surrounding 9 acres of cool climate garden you will find two ornamental lakes, which are home to the resident geese and ducks. The expansive garden changes with the seasons and has been featured in several magazines including Country Style, Australian Country, Central West Lifestyle and Burkes Backyard Magazine and TV.
Come and enjoy the peace and tranquility of this very special place.

Guest access
Guests are welcome to wonder the 9 acres of manicured gardens. There are great spots for picnics or to sit in the sun and read a good book. The pool is also available for your use in the warmer months but please be advised that it may also be used by my family if we are also staying at the neighboring homestead.

Other things to note
The laundry available for your use is a shared space between you and the caretaker. While they typically won’t use it during your stay, there may be occasional instances when access is required.

Also note that the Swimming Pool and the 9 acres of manicured gardens are a shared space. On some occasions you may be sharing the grounds with the owners or other guests.

Rydal is a quaint little village just beyond the Blue Mountains which was named after the English village of Rydal where the poet William Wordsworth lived for many years. For two weekends in September, Rydal hosts a daffodil festival to raise funds for local charities.
The Owl Pen Cottage was built in 1832 as a kitchen for the historic Queen Victoria Inn, and was situated on the Cobb and Co route to Bathurst.
The surrounding native bush provides lovely walks and bike rides. Try your hand at trout fishing or canoeing in nearby Lake Lyell and Lake Wallace, or four (4) wheeling driving in the nearby forest, alternatively take a leisurely drive to a local cafe or country pub for lunch.
It is the perfect location to explore the towns of Bathurst, Orange and Mudgee (wineries, galleries etc) and only 40 minutes from the gorgeous village of Leura and the attractions of the Blue Mountains.
