Catho Pub – previously known as The Wallarah Hotel is located in the historic township of Catherine Hill Bay on Clarke St, a short 5 minute walk from The Chalet. The Pub is heritage listed and has an abundance of old world charm. Call in for a Cold Beer, a meal in the Bistro, Coffee & Cake or to listen to some live music. Entertainment is on most Saturday and Sundays from 1pm.

Caves Coastal Bar - 27 Mawson Close, Caves Beach is a short 10 minutes’ drive north of The Chalet. The newly renovated casual, stylish indoor and outdoor space is the perfect setting for a long, lazy seaside lunch, enjoying a great drop with friends and family. For reservations call 4980 9999.

Lake House Café - 11 Shoreside Row, Murrays Beach is set high amongst the tree line with magnificent water views of Lake Macquarie. Whether you are looking for a casual breakfast to start the day, or a stylish dining experience by night, their chefs prefer to use the freshest of locally sourced ingredients. You can also enjoy walks along the lake and the children can have a great time at the adventure playground, exploring nature in a tranquil setting.

Common Circus - 36 Brooks Parade, Belmont, a not-so-secret waterfront homewares sanctuary with excellent coffee and sweet snacks. This beautiful shop come café, it’s eclectic and colourful, but welcoming, homely and relaxing.

Speers Point Park - Park Road, Speers Point boasts the biggest children's playground in the region. The newly constructed playground has a 4 story slide, flying foxes, pirate ships, a wet play area, sculptures, rickety bridges just to name a few things.

Blackbutt Reserve - Carnley Avenue, Kotara. Feed the emus or play in the new adventure playground at Richley Reserve. Inspired by the natural bushland, the playground features rope courses, bridges, swings and slides, an adventure tower, and plenty of space for everyone from toddlers to tweens.

Wyee Point Reserve – Cnr Wymeera Cct and Halwyn Close, Wyee Point. The playground features a cableway, swings and hip hop equipment with kangaroos often visiting at dusk.
