Originally built in early 1900s, the Casita de Rancho Querencia, was acquired by the current owner in 1985, and he has renovated it twice, most recently in 2018. The main four-square part of house has 10-ft high pressed tin ceilings. The casita boasts a modern kitchen stocked with basic cooking essentials, and a nice sized clean bathroom with a clawfoot tub. There are two bedrooms with queen size beds and flatscreen TVs, and a separate sitting room. Pricing is based on # of beds used, below.

The space
The large master bedroom has modern original artwork, while the guest bedroom and kitchen hit a more traditional country style decor.

Guest access
Guests have access to entire house.

Other things to note
As described in the intro, pricing is based on # of bedrooms (well really, # of beds) used. So for example, if you are a couple (two people) who will be sharing one bedroom, please put "1" as the number of guests. Similarly if you are two couples (or one couple with another single friend) with each couple using their own bedroom, you would put "2" as the number of guests. The only time one would put "3" as the number of guests is if someone is sleeping on the sofa bed in the sitting room.

Location

Polvadera, New Mexico, United States

If you are looking for coffee shops and window shopping, this is NOT the place. This IS the place, however, if you are looking for peace & quiet, and a place to escape and not be found, and witness the diverse cultures and almost "third-world" feel you only find in New Mexico. The casita sits in the middle of 2 acres of desert scrub, at the base of the alluvial fan of Polvadera Peak which rises 2,000 feet above the valley floor, and right across Polvadera Road are the farmlands of the Middle Rio Grande Conservancy District. The irrigation ditch roads make for interesting walks or drives through the valley, and on the opposite side of the highway you see the Polvadera Peak and the range of the Lemitar Mountains with the 10,800 ft high Magdalena Mountains, and if ambitious you can explore San Lorenzo Canyon 6 miles to the NW (5 miles of which require a 4-wheel drive vehicle). Nearby are many interesting sites including the San Acacia Cemetery and Indian Hill for a view of the Rio Grande snaking south through the valley, NM Tech, Socorro, Bosque del Apache, Water Canyon in the Magdalena Mountains, the Village of Magdalena and the VLA, .... Oh my gosh there is a LOT of outdoor stuff to enjoy.

During your stay
The casita is one of my residences, but I travel away from New Mexico 80% of the time. So I want to make this lovely and peaceful space available for others to enjoy when I am not there. I do however, try to maintain very close communication with my guests via texts / WhatsApp messages.
