The house is 5 minutes from the airport and is also very near the Roma subway station which will put you in the river front or town center in less than 10 minutes, daily from from 7 till 1 a.m. It is located in a traditional commercial area with plenty of restaurants and stores of all sorts. This neighbourhood is served by two beautiful parks and a stadium (3 minute walk) with many indoor/outdoor activities (Estádio 1 de Maio). Alvalade is considered one of the two best areas to live in Lisbon.

The space
It is a big confortable house, with gardens both in front and rear of the house where you can be in absolute tranquility and privacy (all front windows are mirrored double glazed). The Street is also quiet with public green areas right in front of it. If I had to choose a word to describe my house, it would be wood. Plenty of it, rare woods, furniture, floor, everywhere. That alone makes it cosy. An early morning or a late afternoon sun settling on the fair woods creates an unique atmosphere. It's really, really nice to be here.

Kitchen , living /dinning rooms, fireplace are all downstairs. The kitchen is on the small side of things, but has served us well. The rooms are upstairs. Both are roomy and welcoming.

I named this room 1 The Balcony Room because it holds access to the balcony over the front garden, balcony which will be exclusive to the guests staying in the room. The other room is named the Silent Room because of the double doors and two double glazed windows that make it completely silent to outside noise, which isn't a lot anyway.

Guest access
My own room, the basement and garage are out of reach, other than these all areas are freely acessible. That incudes, garden, kitchen, all toillets, living and dinning room and fireplace room (my little refuge :-)

Fireplace room not available at the moment!!

Other things to note
It is a two storey house. There are stairs, there isn't a lift.

Bairro de Alvalade (Avalade neighrbourhood) is a Lisbon classic. Regarded as one of the best neighrbourhoods to live, above average income of midle-class residents attracts business and there are many, many shops of all sorts, including many traditional and unique ones. Streets are generally clean, well taken care of and peaceful. With plenty of trees, well served by public transports and only minutes away from Lisbon's turistic core, it is said that Alvalade is a place nobody wants to leave and everyone would like to live in. Within minutes from the house there is the possibility of indor running, cross-fit, padel, tennis (day/night/indoor) mini-golf, swimming, indoor and outdoor soccer, and all the activities a gym may hold. Streets are wide and well lit, and a walk towards city centre or other areas via "Avenidas Novas" (New Avenues) is always a pleasurable alternative to the subway.

Well, I am a young 51 year old surfer and teacher (tutoring) and despite an eventual slightly biased opinion :-) I believe to be an overall nice guy, polite, respectful, mindful, and articulated.
