Commanding views across historic City Hall and Paris End Skyscrapers, this centrally located apartment sits within the famous 1924 early modernist/Art Deco Capitol Theatre Building, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright trained architect, Walter Burley Griffin. Griffin is renowned for his design for Australia's capital city, Canberra.

The space

A modern one bed apartment in the absolute heart of the CBD overlooking the Second Empire style Neoclassical Melbourne Town Hall built in 1870. At just under 50 sq m (Melbourne inner city apartments are generally not as large as in suburbia and space is a premium) it is equipped for stays for one or two people. Features include comfortable queen size bed, Euro galley kitchen and contemporary bathroom. With public transport, restaurants, bars and much more at the doorstep, it is convenient to everything Melbourne city has to offer from 'Paris' end Collins St. shopping, to the Arts Precinct and Laneway coffee and food - it's all at your doorstep or within 10-15 minute walk. The Capitol Theatre building is heritage listed and as such, the original features such as the huge windows, and interior column detailing dating from 1924 are there to appreciate in original condition as a contrast to the more recent interior renovations and modernisation. The heritage listing also exerts it own challenges for owners and requires us to respect the original fabric of the building - such things as windows and walls cannot be altered and remain a beautiful and tangible reflection of times long past. The space is also a reflection of my life philosophy of "less is more". Clearing out superfluous items, walking/cycling or public transporting, and living in a space that is no larger than it needs to be for my needs - is benefiting the health of the planet and my own wellbeing. It is also an ideal way to live for those needing to travel frequently or perhaps just to love the feeling of freedom that comes with this lifestyle. I hope you enjoy as much as I do - the subtle patina of history that the space exudes and that is served so well by the convenience and aesthetics of the surrounding 'borrowed' landscape - the wonderful facades and 'living rooms' of the city, and its excellent transportation systems. You can log into your Netflix, Stan etc from your smart phone) through Chromecast and the TV. A good range of DVD's is provided or play your music library from your smart phone through the quality speaker system.

PLEASE NOTE: As with most inner city locations there is potential for some outside noise. Please consider carefully whether a suburban location (away from tram routes) may suit your needs better. Provisions:
Bath towels provided (I supply fresh linen & towels once every 7 days of your stay and we do not change the bed linens or clean the apartment during your stay, unless specifically agreed at the time of booking - extra charges may apply). Body and hand wash are supplied as well as shampoo, conditioner, makeup remover pads, and a hairdryer.

If I could rate this apartment 6 stars I would. The description and photos for this apartment are spot on. Your location just can't be beaten for proximity to an abundance of cafes and shops, and also a lot of major sights in Melbourne. We could not get enough of popping out for the hive of activity in the streets, with so many of our "must eat" places right near this apartment. Contact with Donna was very easy and her communication and instructions on for things was spot on and easy to follow. If you really want a great spot to experience Melbourne, and you are a couple wanting to embrace the Melbourne city life, this is the apartment to stay during your adventures. Our tip is to look fairly closely to the little lane ways and arcades in the immediate area for fashion and food, you really don't have to go far to have an amazing experience.

Donna's apartment oozes style and thoughtfulness, a rare find amongst the sea of choices for Melbourne accommodation. We certainly felt the "Wow" factor upon our arrival and each morning waking up to that view was incredible. Everything is at your doorstep here and we felt quite smug about how easy it was to explore the laneways, shop, eat and drink and then be back in the apartment in a blink of an eye. Lots of little touches throughout the apartment made you feel like being in a special home away from home, from the coffee machine to smooth sheets, book selection, movies and the delicious croissants, Donna had thought of everything. It was a breeze to get to the Victorian Gallery to view the Dior exhibition as it was to cafes, restaurants, Chinatown and some amazing bars. We'll definitely be back. Thank you so much Donna for helping make our stay memorable for all the right reasons.

This was our second trip to Donna's awesome apartment. Her generosity and hospitality are simply unparalleled. This is evidenced from the quality of the bed linen, personal hints and advice, right through to thoughtful details such as fresh breads, chocolates and a very well stocked pantry. There is a superb attention to detail too, from decoration, a fantastic collection of fascinating books from a worldly traveller, beautiful crisp linens and oh so much more... The location simply cannot be beaten... David Jones food hall is less than a 60 second walk away if you get peckish and of course, the fashion shops surrounding the location are plentiful as they are diverse, and include international and local designers as well as all the well known International Luxury brands located in adjacent Collins st (a mere 1min walk from home base too). Attention to the finest detail from quality of linen (excellent and super comfy bed) to ever changing contemporary coffee table books all make this a simply wonderful place to settle in and enjoy Melbourne in all its glory. Thank you Donna, we'll be back again, and I just can't wait!!!
