We call this space The Tractor House, and it is one of three accommodation options available on Leob Croft, our organic working croft with livestock set in a totally unspoilt area of approximately 30 acres overlooking the sea.

The space

On our Croft you will live close to nature and be able to escape the rush and madnesses of the outside world by walking, painting, studying (even anthroposophy!) or meditating the mysteries of life in peaceful and completely unspoilt surroundings.

At home you will have a simple, natural accommodation mostly made of wood which is comfortable and uncomplicated. 100% cotton sheets. There is no TV and patchy mobile phone service, meaning ample opportunity for relaxation.

From your own balcony you will have wonderful sea views of Staffa, the Burg and beyond.
The Tractor House is constructed entirely in wood and is very cosy. It has a balcony with a magnificent sea view of the Burg and Staffa beyond.
It is ideally suited for a couple but a baby or pet could probably be accommodated.

Guest access

The Tractor House is set in a 30 acre working croft consisting of part pasture, part woodland and part wetland adjacent to the shore line. We have a calf called Stella, a donkey called Everette and 6 chickens and grow our own organic vegetable and fruit. Occasionally in the summer with have our jam shop open selling our own jams at the top of the drive on the main road. There are seals in the sea below us and lovely walks are possible either within the croft or beyond.

Interaction with guests

We get pleasure from people who enjoy staying here and enjoying the peaceful and unspoilt surroundings. We feel that it is important to respect people's privacy but at the same time we are particularly keen to meet people who share our wide interests which include a spiritual quest and a love of the natural world. We ourselves our anthroposophists which is Christian and based on the work of Rudolf Steiner. My wife Ann has Parkinson disease and in the absence of any therapists near to hand we have developed our own therapeutic exercises including rhythmic work, eurythmy and singing. If there was any interest I would open to explore this further.

The Tractor house was a tranquil, peaceful escape - and a much needed rest. The views across to Staff, Lunga and the other islands was so beautiful - with some amazing sunsets thrown in as a bonus. This part of the Isle of Mull has dramatic scenery and an abundance of wildlife. Jonathan was very welcoming and made us feel very much at home. Thank you Jonathan.

What an incredible, peaceful, and beautiful place to stay! We absolutely loved our stay at the Tractor House. We immediately relaxed upon arriving and settled in and felt at home within minutes! The view from the window was stunning and serene, and we never tired of it. The nearby beaches were just wonderful too, and a great place for spotting sea otters. Jonathan and Anne were very welcoming hosts who were helpful but left us to our own devices unless we needed anything. It was a pleasure and a complete rest to stay here and we hope we'll be back!

The Tractor House is a wonderful place to stay! Despite a very wet week on Mull we were warm and cosy in this delightful studio which has a lovely rustic charm. It has a well appointed kitchen area, a hot, powerful shower, a very comfy double bed and plenty of space to tuck lots of belongings, despite being up in the eaves of the building. Be aware it is down a short track which can get muddy in wet weather (cars parked at the top), and the board walk to get up to the house can get a bit slippy too. There are gorgeous views across the sea loch from the sofa/balcony, and some excellent (although somewhat challenging!) walks from the doorstep down to (and along) the rocky coast, and further afield to white sandy beaches. Jonathan was a great host, round and about if anything was needed but not at all intrusive. Don't miss the Blackbird Bistro at Bunessan, delicious food (byo wine/beer, cash only), or a trip to Ulva on the tiny passenger ferry, with some amazing views on the drive there and back!
